probably the best thing I can say about the new map is that it's new.
It's very meh and unremarkable. Nothing too wrong with it but utterly forgettable and unlikely the challenge the great BF maps we all remember.

It does highlight how much shitter they have become at running a live service type setup. the map and season 2 are so bland compared to any of the pre 2042 battlefield games. I seriously don't understand how they can be so consistantly worse game after game.

Honestly, maybe im just a pussy, but Casual Breakthrough saved this game for me. The prevalence of cheaters has effectively ruined the game, and the large map 64 player modes are just too hectic and chaotic to be able to unlock or level any guns/attachments given how slow the progression is and how much time you spend dead/waiting to spawn. I have only encountered a handful of cheaters in casual breakthrough, and games are much easier to manage in terms of actually being able to get some gunplay in and have proper firefights without just getting headshotted from across the map or blown up by a vehicle. You can have success in the main large map based modes but they are very specific in scope, like getting lucky and spawning in a jet, and actually being able to fly the jet and put in work with it (or a tank).

I am still playing here and there because its still somewhat fun, but overall I just feel like this game has been a failure.

Shooters like this cannot exist long term like we had in BF3-4 days when 50% of the people are cheating. There was cheats back then too, but those private servers meant the mods would kick them within seconds of finding out. Now that im old and reflexes are shit I actually liked the PvE mode in BF 2042. IDK why they didnt add this to this game.

Its funny to me that it took 3/4 of all of EA gaming to make this shit only to fade into obscurity after a few months.

The grind to play the way I want to play is what kills it for me. Let me spend 20 matches unlocking stuff for a weapon I am not even sure I like long term. Dumbest shit ever.

I’m hoping for bigger maps, stronger team play, and fewer launch bugs this time. If they mix that with the snappy gunplay the series used to have, I’m in.

The new nightfall maps are really fun and bring a whole new aspect to the game (Slowing it down). Highly recommend you check them out. I can't remember the game modes but there were two really interesting and fun ones.

4 teams of 3 in a deathmatch cqc scenario. Nightvision runs out and has to recharge, flashlights are amazing but position giveaway, flash bangs yada yada. It really turns into a slower more tactical approach to the combat and gives pause between engagements. Rarely you will be the focal point of all teams and once making for some amazing gameplay. Turn out the lights and go off muzzle flash and tracers is just a really good experience with their sound engine.

The other was another tactical type game where it put 4 teams of 3 against each other. Win was based off revives and kills. Each squad would have a HVT that if killed gave some kind of bonus (didn't figure it out yet). It also had the plate mechanic which made the approach even slower in the cqc environments without lighting. The teams then qualify to a next round where if you get squad wiped you lose. I didn't get further than that but I wondered how far it drilled down. Could make for fun fast little tournaments.
I was fighting off two teams in a corridor chokepoint and somehow keeping them at bay until my teammates could respawn.

I really wasn't a fan of this game until this mode and I hope it stays as an option. A flashlight only mode would be amazing (No Nightvision). Hit me up if you want to check it out, it fucks.

I don't understand what's so hard about implementing larger maps and appealing to the legacy fanbase. I mean shit, hire a team just for expanding the exisiting maps, not everything needs to be a destructible building.

The contaminated map is fun but it would be way more fun if they just expanded the forest surrounding everything and put a few far off objectives.

There are also a lot of missed opportunities for creative design of high risk/reward areas in these maps.

I'm always curious what the people look like who are designing the games and what their thought process is for implementation. There's literally an army of fanbase nerds at their disposal who could create amazing official maps for free but instead we are the mercy of low IQ retards who probably don't even play the game.

I still cannot stand conquest due to the maps. Vehicles shooting out of the spawn and shitting on an entire team unmolested has always been a problem that they've refused to solve and these new tiny maps make it 100% worse due to their inability to create closed off firing lanes. They love their bowl map mentality the last 3 iterations of Battlefield where you can kill anyone from anywhere and never have to move, including your own spawn.

The only other real complaints I have are shitty hitreg and the super fast movement/TTK/TTD. BF1 was the pinnacle of those 3 issues and instead they made CoD, except I can't flank due to the maps and I don't have the reflexes of an 18 year old to compete heads up. I feel like whomever has been making their maps the last 3 battlefield games have never played an FPS game in their lives.

It still blows my mind that the Battle Royal Cali map was never turned into a Conquest map. It is literally the perfect size for it.

Pretty sure the campaign maps are similar in that regard.
