Beast of Reincarnation

Played it for a couple hours last night. Just in the very first area, spent most of that time exploring, fighting and looting.

Can feel a bit lanky, but not as bad as some videos made it seem. Combat is all about Parry, there is a perfect dodge but it wasdifficult to pull off for me. Movement is good with the grapple and high jump based off creating vines.

Using the pet skills is a little awkward in that doing so basically pauses the game, so it kinda interrupts the flow.

Graphics and performance are fine. Using g dlss/data with High setting is smooth, haven't tried max settings with RT enabled.

Zero fan service, and no idea if the MC gets other outfits. I found lots of items that appeared to be used to upgrade the giant mech that acts as your mobile base, and also some food that said it lowered your hunger.. but never noticed a hunger gage.

Too early to say if it is "worth" $60, but so far I am liking it.

How much mob diversity do you need? In the first zone I've fought 8 different types of mobs, mostly robots. Not trying to argue as people want different things from games.

In Nier Automata you only fought like 6 or so different types of robots. In Stellar Blade there were about 20 different types of regular enemies. I loved both games.

Nier had 1 biome, and a few set piece areas. Stellar Blade had 1 biome and a few cool set piece areas. Didn't detract from either game at all. Both games take place on a planet that was devastated,so what was shown made sense.

I can't speak about the Story in Beast as I've only just started, so it could end up ducking or be passable.

The game reminds of Remnant 1 in its budget scope. I can see people not liking how the Story plays out in the first area, it is fairly disjointed. You're placed in a pretty large area, able to run around and explore / fight / loot. Yet, all the answers to "what does this do" are behind lore flashbacks that slowly tell you why you are where you are why the ppl with you are there, each of which has little tutorials within them or unlocks for the base. I think it would have made more sense for all these to have been presented prior to being dropped into the first zone.

Everything else seems fine to be, less fidelity than Stellar Blade and less narrative direction than Nier. Advice to anyone else getting this, just b-line through the story missions in the first zone to get past all the flashbacks and unlock everything.

I was out at unskipable cut scenes…fuuuuuck that.

I mean…didn’t even know it was a female protagonist. Watch the 100% guys review and skipped around a bit, he said crashing often and unskippable cut scenes. I stopped watching.

Lets see if they can get even remotely close to the patch cadence / quality that Crimson Desert has managed.

Got to the 2nd area now, still fun for me, 10hrs in. No crashes as of yet either.
