Those are 'advisors' for a 'foundation'. Vitalik is an 'advisor' to god knows how many projects by now. Neuralink's CEO is not going to be coding dogecoin. Jared Birchall is one of Musk's 'trusted aides' (says LATimes) and he hired the private investigator to try and dig up dirt on the scuba diver Musk called a pedo.

So I guess these billionaires can just try and hire people to code dogecoin they way they want it. Sounds super decentralized. At least Vitalik tried to talk some sense into Musk. What's the point of him doing this when PoS is supposedly so superior and ETH will crush PoW coins with PoS+sharding? I guess Vitalk likes dogs and memes too.

Musk will demand bigger and faster blocks because he doesn't understand blockchain and 'gee computers are faster now', and it'll end up Solana 2.0 where nobody except Google can run a node and so many blocks are flying that it's impossible to sync to chain tip from genesis. If they instead go half way, then they recreate Litecoin, which also has a low fee mandate. If doge wants to compete with lightning, my money is on lightning.

My fav part is when you make Elon look like a total idiot! A crushing blow!

I like Elon and love SpaceX but he has the common problem smart people have in that he thinks he knows better than everybody in fields that isn't his specialty

My fav part was when you suggested only experts know what they're talking about. Fkn love it!

As much as Elon can be a total ass-hat, becoming well versed in the technical aspects of a topic doesn't seems to be much of an issue. Assuming he sees crypto as a contributor to his company's end games, I'm willing to give Elon the benefit of the doubt that he's done more than scroll through a few sub-reddits while on the shitter.

Elon was roundly mocked on twitter recently because he said during the B-Word conference that 'average people don't run nodes' with people posting pictures of their nodes. The entire point of limiting BTC's block space is so average people can run nodes. You can run a BTC node on a smartphone. The reason why miners lost the block size war is because bitcoin's node operators have a lot of influence. The reason why miners cannot change block rewards to whatever they want is because nodes will reject them. You need nodes that are not miners otherwise miners can do whatever they want and a network with only a handful of nodes are vulnerable to DDoS or various other attacks. If you don't run your own node then you're reliant on third parties to verify transactions, and your queries can be tracked; the entire point of bitcoin is to eschew third parties. If you take self sovereignty seriously and aren't in this for the casino games, then running a node is almost required and it's cheap and easy to do. Companies sell little already configured nodes that you can buy and plug in.

I'm not saying that he doesn't deserve the mocking and I'm aware of all the BTC info in your post. It doesn't mean that 'average' people from the population at large run nodes. Whether that's what Elon meant is another story 🤷‍♂️

Elon has consistently misrepresented blockchain scaling specifically. Just cause he's smart doesn't mean he is right. Deferring your own thinking to these "genius" characters rather than understanding it yourself will lead you to ruin. T Torrid is correctly explaining the situation.

Obviously you can believe whatever you want. If daddy Elon, Vitalik, Hoskinson, etc can't be wrong in your world then so be it. They're geniuses afterall :smart:. I predict you're gunna get wrecked though as that type of intellectual laziness is how scammers make their money. Stop deferring to authority and do your own research.

I’m not taking anyone’s word, just disagreeing with the use of ‘average’ in this context.
Semi-autistic semantics? Probably.

I like BTC, I like ETH, I like MATIC, I like TRUEBIT, I like DOGE. I particularly like the idea of a POW coin like DOGE living on a POS blockchain like ETH2 and automatic conversions occuring via the ETH-DOGE bridge that is getting direct input from Vitalek and interest from billionaires who know how to make money 1,000,000,000 times better than you or I ever will. And why wouldn't Vitalek be on a bunch of boards? They're building on his blockchain and their success directly influences ETH's success. Also, some of my best friends have over 300,000 DOGE from years ago and they have a strange ability of being able to pick/choose products that always blow up 10 years later.

There's miles between someone like Elon being worth listening to and also thinking he's infalable and nothing he says should be filtered. What an extreme perspective. Why the fuck are we even talking about Elon? Because he tweeted out DOGE? Elon's support is purely anecdotal to me. Or is Elon simply a strawman to throw ad-hominems at?

Torrid suggesting that only experts should be listened to is pretty fucking retarded considering he's posting as if someone should listen to him, whilst not being an expert by his own definition. Guess we should let LLR know he needs to shut this shit down until we can get some certified experts in this bitch. You dog-piling on the same retarded suggestion just further exposes the poor foundation of the argument you're making.

There's probably ten other reasons why DOGE is a bad investment. This Elon shit is retarded though.

It is -very- common in this thread to refer to someone like Vitalik or Elon saying something as a statement of fact when it is not.

This is EXACTLY what Elon is suggesting. Its not making Elon "look like a total idiot" to accurately describe his viewpoint. You go on to strawman some argument about "only experts" which isn't what is being said at all. I believe the point is that Elon is -not- an expert in this field and he is inaccurately describing scaling issues/solutions. No one is attacking Elon here from what I'm seeing.

So far as I can tell Elon has adopted Dogecoin because it has a strong community, and no developers (until now). This allows him to leverage that community and bend the development to his own ends. He's talked about sending Doge servers to space and I wouldn't be shocked if he did just that. If you think Elon is on to something and want to invest then buying DOGE is probably the way to go. You're buying Elon Bucks though, don't confuse this with a decentralized protocol because it isn't

EDIT:

In case you don't know about DOGE wallet distributions.... its mostly held by just a few addresses. I wouldn't be shocked if one of those is Elon. 79.15% held by 731 wallets. Some % of that is exchanges but thats still a massive % held by a few wallets. Crypto for the people indeed.

The original argument from Torrid was essentially that Elon's an idiot. Who the fuck cares?

I like Elon and love SpaceX but he has the common problem smart people have in that he thinks he knows better than everybody in fields that isn't his specialty

Then he doubles down and suggests that smart people should let the specialists (experts) think for them. Why you white knighting?

The biggest aspect of credibility one can have when it comes to crypto, per Vitalek, is adoption/validation/users. So, it would make sense to find coin with a large userbase and a low value and help it grow, especially if you can get in early. Dogecoin originally had both a developer and a huge community, but the developer dipped out bc Dogecoin got too popular and he didn't want to have to support it or couldn't handle the pressure. Who knows?

If you want to call DOGE Elonbucks, let's call ETH Vitalekbucks, and BTC Satoshibucks. Again, this is all just ad-hominem retardation and unecessary.

For DOGE to reach maturity, it needs helping hands. But, the fundamentals are there.

There's orders of magitudes difference in adoption between BTC and DOGE, so direct comparisons are pretty unfair. But, for the record:

Yup, I do. There is a big difference between Elon, Vitalik, and Satoshi though. Big differences between the fundamental control mechanisms for each project as well. It isn't an attack on anyone's character to point out those differences in incentive.

Elon adopting DOGE is really smart for him and his interests no argument from me on that point. Question is whether its in your interests as an investor? Especially when juxtaposed to something like BTC.

Vitalik understands that the community is the most important aspect of crypto, and that Bitcoin's community is way too fucking toxic to even think about working with. History will not be kind to the maximalists, indeed.

You realize your only argument is FUD right? Shit is tiresome.

Talk technicals if you want to convince me or anyone else for that matter.

I mean if you were investing with Bernie Madoff and I told you he was scamming you, I'm sure you would just tell me I'm retarded and point to how much money you're making. On paper you'd be right, but once the rug pulls the truth comes out. I've made plenty of arguments based on technicals in the past and none of you bother to read it lol. Its not my job to educate you on your investments. I'll continue to post what I find relevant in this thread and you're free to ignore me if you'd like.

From my perspective you're buying into scams. By pointing that out I'm trying to help you, its purely your decision whether you take the time to investigate what I'm talking about or ignore/attack me. I'm in the process of liquidating my alts as I didn't understand what I was buying when I got them. As such I'm still making money off people being poorly educated on the space. I have nothing to gain by you seeing what I see and in fact would lose money if the world all decided I was right over night. I'm sharing because I genuinely believe it and want others to understand. I think there are a lot of sharks in these waters and most of you haven't put the time into understanding what you buy.

Its your money though. Bitcoin will succeed regardless of what anyone thinks about it.

Lol. I literally keep a tab open just for Elon's tweets+replies. He's the only guy I follow that I read every single tweet. I watch tons of his interviews on Youtube. I'm a big nerd so I can't not like the guy, but I'm not a sycophant and not afraid to poke fun.

Elon embarrasses himself by proclaiming to know better than all the cypherpunks who have devoted their lives to crypto over the last 10+ years. When Elon talks about engineering rockets and cars, he says a lot of brilliant stuff, like 'you're always wrong, try to be less wrong'. But when he talks about crypto he mentally throws all that out. Maybe his mind is going back to the Paypal days, I dunno. The recent Everyday Astronaut interview he did was brilliant though and I recommend.

I never said that 'only experts should be listened to'. In fact I implied the opposite. Is Vitalik not an expert? There are no cypherpunk diplomas, guy. Elon is making arguments that have been hashed out at length during the block size war because he hasn't read the history. He's not 'going back to first principals' and coming up with some novel new obvious idea that people somehow missed. Maybe that happens with rockets but not crypto.
