I can change it on a per-tab basis with that extension. You can't do that in the sound panel.

You can if you're using Win10. Search for App volume and device preferences. The tabs will be listed, albeit not named so it takes some work to figure out which is which.

Opera, Brave, Vivaldi to ignore Chrome's anti-ad-blocker changes, despite shared codebase | ZDNet

They've announced they won't be implementing the changes, which is what got me interested.

Been using Opera exclusively for ages. That's great news. (Opera also has its own baked in ad-blocker, which isn't dependent on the Chrome API)

Since you asked, I think Opera's Speed Dial, Bookmarks, and History management features are light years ahead of any other browser. Recommend you take it for a spin.

I don't see that anyone has really answered your question about a video downloader. I used to use DownThemAll, which was fucking awesome, but it has been broken for years now and the author claims he will never, ever port it to Chrome because of the shenanigans Google puts into their api's or some such. I don't remember exactly, but that's close.

In my search for a replacement to that, I eventually came across Internet Download Manager, and I liked it so much that I bought a lifetime license. It has a Chrome integration extension too, that usually pops up a button the moment you start playing a YouTube (or PornHub, etc.) video. Or you can manually add them, or insert custom filters so that every time it sees a particular type of link it uses IDM, and a ton of other shit I don't even use.

It works fucking great, and I highly recommend it if ripping videos or bulk downloading is your thing. Or even normal downloads, it makes them much, much faster due to multiple connections, and makes them significantly easier to resume as well. I can't remember how much it was, but it wasn't super expensive from what I remember.
If youre not command-line averse try youtube-dl. Works for everything and very reliable, best choice on Linux, independant of browser. Updated regularly.

Since you have been using Opera...How do I get the 1st tab to show up 1st when I open a new browser? It keeps defaulting to the last tab on the browser. I'm using the gaming browser of Opera.

Yeah...did that.

The issue is the last tab on the browser is the tab that shows up 1st when you 1st open the browser. So I want my FOH tab to be the tab I see 1st , but its my Papaly, which is the last tab on my browser. I moved the FOH to the last tab, so it opens as the main tab...but I hate it at the end.

Don't think it's possible, but you can achieve the same result with two more clicks. First of all save your preferred "start" group of pages as a Speed Dial Folder.

In Settings:
211531
The Speed Dial page will open when Opera loads, then just right click on your Speed Dial folder of choice and select:

211532

The pages will open in the same order you saved them in the Speed Dial folder (can change this), with your left-most tab in focus.

(the Speed Dial tab will still be behind it on the far left, but meh, first world problems =)

Gonna put this here since we are talking the max exodus about to hit. I've never used Opera before so not sure if good or not. Does seem interesting tho. Anyone using it?

Been using it a week or so...It's a memory hog for sure. 2.5 gigs on average for me. But it has a lot more going on. I REALLY like the deals aggregator. I can't tell the speed difference from Chrome when bringing up pages.

The only couple of gripes I have are, the last tab on your browser will be the one displayed when you 1st open the browser. The spinning wheel stays up on tabs sometimes as if the page hasn't finished loading.

Think I will stick with it. Thanks for the heads up.

I've been doing some Extension browsing after finding new Image Reverse tools, so I thought I'd share my current list.

Alternate Player for Twitch.tv - this is a much better version of Twitch, no ads!
Cookie AutoDelete
Downloader for Instagram - allows you to download a user's entire stream.
Grammarly for Chrome - grammar check tool on top of Chrome's spellcheck.
Pixlr Today - changes the blank tab to be a pic of the day, dunno, I like the aesthetic.
Privacy Badger - disables hidden trackers.
RightToCopy - allows you to right-click and save text or pictures when scripted against it.
Search by Image - was the only extension with a reliable Yandex reverse image option.
Tampermonkey - blocks scripts. Works on top of uBlock.
TinEye Reverse Image Search
Twitter Media Downloader - downloads all media on a user's timeline.
uBlock Origin

Some of these have redundant functionality, like Search by Image, but the TinEye addon is fewer clicks, and sometimes where one is blocked, another will work.

I'd like to find a better paywall blocker. Everything I've used only works on a handful of sites or gets re-scripted over and over. I miss the easy days where I could inspect the page and simply hide the element...

Firefox user here. I use Vivaldi if I need a Chrome-based browser for some reason, but it's rare.

Addons:

uBlock Origin
Firefox Multi-Account Containers - I LOVE this one, and it will keep me chained to Firefox by itself. Takes a bit of initial config, but worth it many times over.
HTTPS Everywhere - Didn't see this one mentioned earlier. It's not such a huge deal these days, but once in a while it catches something.
Flagfox - adds a country flag icon in the address bar, and has a lot of lookup tools with a right click - definitely unintrusive and cool if you like to be a little more vigilant.
User-Agent Switcher - I usually leave this disabled unless I need it, but it allows you to spoof your browser to mess with browser fingerprinting, or to bypass things - like getting .iso downloads from Microsoft.
Video DownloadHelper - usually also disabled unless I need it.

While not perfect, I block cookies and site data for a few sites with limited paywalls (like nytimes) so that each visit is like the first.

Anyone can suggest a browser with low resource requirements, safe and has similar functions like Chrome?

Check out the new MS Edge. It is Chromium based, compatible with Chrome addons, but none of the Google spying

What kind of resource hog is it?
That's my main concern. Love chrome but it's just an huge resource hog. I've had to shut it down via task manager cause it sometimes slows down my games and I then notice a huge performance in my games.
