We are traveling and the rental place gave me a jeep wrangler. I realized I had never really been in one or driven one in my life. The closest thing would be a beat up 1974 international scout my dad had as a farm truck.

I hate this car. Its cramped, wind blows through it with a hard top, and it guzzles more gas than my Tundra.

Why do people have a cult for these? I understand the totally utilitarian and easy to maintain jeeps of the 20th century had a certain appeal. But this 2026 thing is the worst of both worlds. I have never hated a car before but man.
It’s junk and they are very expensive. People get them because they are mindless sheep.

If you visit the other car thread, youll see most of us say Jeeps are for fags, especially the duck people.

No idea what people see in them but hopefully your prius is fixed soon.

I have friends that do "Jeeping" on these rock trails and they love them, they have like 3. I drove one once and it felt like a weird pickup truck with the softest suspension I've ever felt, it was like driving on top of a pillow, when I turned the wheel it leaned over like 20 degrees in a slow turn... and the inside was like the size of a geo metro despite being a quite large vehicle.

Completely stupid unless you really, really need to be offroad most of the time. Having one to drive on the pavement seems like punishment.

They work well on jeep trails that are narrow and have tight turns offroad. That's about it. The duck thing just adds insult to injury. I saw one in the hospital parking lot that must have had 25 ducks on the dash board cover. Probaly a doctor.

Friend had one. It was top of the line whatever that was. He had to get rid of it because his wife didn't want him driving it with the kids in it and the hearing damage from the wind noise. He refused to answer if it ever saw even a mud puddle while he owned it. He wanted to come visit me but said he wasn't driving his new jeep down my non aslphalted driveway.

Speaking of Jeeps, my new to me $3500 Jeep took a dump getting on the freeway a few days ago with some loud bangs and I had to limp back home. CEL got lit so I read the codes. Misfire on cylinder 2, bad coil circuit in cylinders 1,2,3,5&6. Five coils don't suddenly fail so I pull the plug on cylinder 2 and it looks like this.

No center electrode and the gap is over .080". Five out of 6 plugs look like this. They're not the original plugs, but they're close and the car has 172k miles on it.

Anywho, replaced the plugs, which undoubtedly caused the bad coil codes, but I went ahead and also replaced the coils, too. They were cheap and we're back on the road running smoother than ever.

He brought his wifes SUV, yeah let's go to the country/rural area and not take the jeep cause it could get dirty. He doesn't have it now but he probably handed out ducks. He got all in for the jeep thing.

Did you break out your spark plug magnifier to get a reading to see if they were running lean/rich hot/cold? Yes I'm old and it's still done in some racing situations.

No, running hot or cold was secondary to just plain running. I just put the factory recommended plugs in and some Chinesium coils.
