This game is beautiful and very well done. I'm not sure how today's gamers will take it as its fairly unforgiving which I know you can expect in games like Dark Souls but it doesn't look like a game that will challenge you. I was kind of on autopilot and made it to the first boss and it smacked me. There are some mechanics that are also a little challenging. It reminds me of Super Metroid in how everything is laid out and the overall progression is designed. It not unnecessarily hard but there are moments you have to pay attention. I've enjoyed a lot of nods to previous games as well.
If you're fan of the series, I think its a must play. If you like games from the SNES era, it's a must play. I wouldn't put it up there with Symphony of the Night but I think its a very good entry to the series.

There is a trinket that reduces trap damage by 75%. Yeah... i wore that the whole game other than on bosses.

Deadcells CV skin 2.0 from what I saw + when I played demo. Ended up just getting an emu and redownloading SOTN and played it instead.

I wouldn't even say its dead cells. It plays somehow worse. Its a ok castlevania game and I'm having a good enough time for 30 bucks that it was, but its missing something in the combat; it feels sluggish to play. WAY WAY WAY too many fucking jumping puzzles as well.

Yeah…that is what I felt from the demo, but a few here and one person IRL said it was good and worth a shot… I also skipped Metroid dread and prime 4 and ravenous looks like a skip.
I guess I am just… old… I am enjoying the grind of MnM and playing “only wrong answers” in /ooc chat.

There is a setting to respawn at the boss arena.
You can also tweak damage taken and damage dealt settings if you feel it is too brutal.

I tried this today and it plays like garbage. The controls are just sluggish and unresponsive and all the weapon attacks have strange hitboxes that don't seem to exactly match up with their animations. This is definitely not a Dead Cells reskin, that game plays like a goddamn dream and is probably only second to Hollow Knight in terms of feel. I guess it is nice to look at, but the art direction really hampers the gameplay as sometimes it is impossible to see enemies spawning since they blend into the background.
Also, fucking lol at this being centered around a female being the last of the Belmont bloodline. Just fuck off with all this shit.

This inspired me to go back and revisit Bloodstained. Turned out I had only done about 32% of the map based on my last save. Really thought I’d finished the game, no idea what happened. Started fresh and back up to around 50% now. It isn’t perfect but is fun and definitely scratches an itch.
