I don't know if it's rumors, but the way he's going about it proves he's a piece of shit and wanted this.
I also have a pretty strong suspicion Danya killed himself. His last YouTube video was Saturday and titled "You thought I was gone forever?" I thought it was super weird when I saw it pop up in my feed, now it makes sense in the same way that Huntress' last album makes sense before Jill Janus offed herself. The Kramnik shit took a very large toll on him, the shift was super obvious watching his stream. A lot of chess players are emotionally dysfunctional at the high end, and to be accused of being a complete fraud by one of your heroes completely wrecked him, and I think justifiably so. His entire life revolved around chess and to have a former world champion accuse him of cheating was something he could not let roll off his back like a lot of people would.
Danya was to chess what Paul Harrell was to guns. Super unfortunate, but at least we have hundreds of hours of YouTube videos that will live forever from him. It fucking sucks.

I'm pretty sure he did... intentionally or unintentionally. Sometimes shit gets outta hand with whatever you're taking to ease the pain/sleep.
Apparently Bortnik found him and sounds like he saw him on the couch thru the window, so that seems to jive with that theory.
Least he found him. My best friend made me go tromping thru the fucking woods looking for him.

I really enjoyed Daniels stuff, as a novice non good chess player. He was a good link to the general public.
I have watched the Kramnik bullying for years, like many.
