The Civ6 expansion that tried to push climate change shit kind of backfired, it taught me that volcano lairs and polluting so much you drown enemy civilizations is awesome. I prefer civ4/5, but I accept that Civ6 tried to innovate with the city unbundling, even if it added even more unnecessary autism to the game

I still play 6 cause its on ipad and i dont do as much pc gaming. Prob the only good turn based strat for ipad

Yeah, still holding out hope they someday divert back to the Civ IV path. Did not buy VI, and will not buy another unless they clearly steer back onto the classic Civ path. I could play IV til the end of time if needed, but it'd be nice if someday they surprised us all and came out with a modern version of it.

And here i thought i was alone in my love of civ4. I still play a round when i just want to relax and not be fully invested. Could never get in to 5 or 6. May even skip 7.

I generally liked 4 (especially the Fall From Heaven II mod), but I'm glad 5 got rid of the stack o' doom. I like playing tall instead of wide, and tall civs were very strong in 5 for cultural victories. In 6, the game basically forces you to play wide outside of a couple Civs like the Maya/Lady Six Sky.

5 > 4 > 6, IMO.

i'm cool with no stack of doom but hte ai shits its pants with the one unit per tile schema and they never fixed it in 5 or 6.

I'd prefer something like "3 units per tile".

my massive earth shattering beef with 5 and 6 is how much your time itw wasts making you click stupid shit that the fully cartoon animated leaders say. fuck off with that. show me a tiny head shot of gilgamesh if we have a need to talk, otehrwise don't make a pop up. just the pants shitting ai and i guess graphics(not sure) make turn sequences like 5x slower than four, but the npc's talking to you makes turns like 10-20 x slower.

and autot end turn never works right.

I really like the concept of civ, and the idea of fighting against enemies during different tech ages, the bigger problem is that the game is too shallow to make things like that happen often in real gameplay. The game could really do with some sort of era/institution spread like EU4, or something that kinda stops cheesy things from making a country become an insane outlier in some way compared to the others.

And the AI is pretty dumb usually.

Civ 2 is my favorite Civ, but not the best Civ.

I miss being able to chop population for production boosts
