Julie is explained in a journal entry. The fracture is the result of the first battle between mom and dad when he originally tried to get her out. Yes, mom went into Verso's childhood painting to recreate him and deal with his death but she got obsessed and never came out. Alicia wants to live as Maelle because... Well why wouldn't she when her real body is horribly disfigured.
That's my understanding so far. Probably going to spend the week clearing the map before I push the finale.

Alicia is just doing what Aline did, while Renoir and Clea want them both to move on and live in the present with their family. I just find it unsatisfying, I guess. Now, for something different. When finishing up Act II, I got the picto that allows for dmg higher than 9999, but I'd swear there was a notification that this cap was removed in general. I do find it funny that at lvl59/60 the Dark Shores zone is still saying "Danger".

The mobs in Dark Shores are like 75+ most likely? i went in at 50 and it took a long ass time to kill them because they have a million health between the two mobs or something
you do get like 800k exp though but it takes forever

The situation might be the same but the motivations are different. Alicia isn't mourning Verso and trying to hold on to him like Aline was. I think she just wants to live in that world with a body that actually works. Her family IRL is cooked and Clea comes off as a cunt, so she just wants to cut ties I think. Alicia was always the runt of the family, "bad" at painting, which is why she barely has a little postcard sized thing on the manor wall. Not a world I would be in a hurry to get back to either.
Anyway, I don't think anything is supposed to be satisfying yet. You've learned the truth but you haven't yet reached the conclusion. There's no way the game ends without you making some kind of choice one way or the other.

Understandable to a point.
The difficulty seems out of whack, imo.
I'm going around opening up the entire map and exploring the new zones. The mobs I've encounter do way more dmg now, with more HP mostly. Some of the new bosses / elite encounters are wtf, while others are easy.

I'm sure there are some really fucking broken builds as you get up into the crazy Lumina numbers. My best weapons are still level 20 and they go up to 33? I tried fighting the sky serpent thing and... Well, let's just say I don't even know where to start with that.

Replacing Gustav with Cooler Gustav was certainly a surprise
They put in a lot of work to make sure you thought he The Guy, down to special voice lines during combat etc when you use his giga charge, and him having the special magic macguffin with his arm etc.

Been using Verso/Lune/Maelle the entire time. IDK and IDC if the others are good because at this point I'm too vested with all the time spent perfecting my picto set ups, stats and weapons for these 3. Maybe NG+ they'll get some screen time.
Also don't worry if you build properly you'll be doing 100k+ damage chunks regularly which makes the new HP levels not that big of a deal. You really need to be decent at parrying though or you'll be fighting some fights forever so if you've spent all the time dodging I feel bad for y'all.

I would like to preface this by saying this is a great game, really, and a surprisingly great game considering the studio, etc. However, I think it's worse than any of the recent persona games, and metaphor.
The UI for example, is inexplicably bad. No maps or markers for things that are clearly meant as late game content so you have to write it down or alt tab to the internet to remember all the locales doesn't feel great. I wish the world had more interesting traversal and the character building between characters was more in depth.
That being said, this is a great game. It's not a 10/10 or anything, but if you enjoy rpgs and jrpgs, its a must play and a great effort by a small studio. Certainly, it's better than any recent FF game by some distance. The story is really interesting and the music is A+ tier. They tried something different and they mostly pulled it off, so kudos.

Dunno, I think having the proper gear to have Maelle / V do the most dmg possible is mandatory, not sure what setup to use with them atm. Act III seems to negate any difficulty setting below Expert, imo, given the amount of damage mobs do in those areas and the amount of HP they have. Just an unnecessary spike.
