Doing Lumiere and finishing the game is quite a bit easier than the areas / bosses / chromas that become available when you enter Act 3 though.

Ok yeah I forgot about that entirely I was confused a tad by the menu system too because I kept forgetting to hit L3 in the Pictos menu. I had some there but really hadn't touched it since Act 1

I'd say it's the best game since bg3, I rank bg3 over er, tho it's somewhat different genre.
The way you worded it made it sound like no game worth a shit had been released since ER. While mostly true and bg3 is the exception in a sea of dog shit slop, I thought you forgot about it!

Perfect Catalysts are required to go from 32 to 33 (it double's the power on average). I don't think 5 is the max though, i've gotten about 9 or so i think from various bosses in the higher optional content. They apparently drop a lot more in NG+ though
edit: nvm i have 6 weapons upgraded to 33 and still have 5 left lol so i've gotten 11 from this playthrough, i think some bosses just have a low chance to drop one

I got a lvl 23 weapon at lvl 30ish on the dark shores. 30 min of parrying, that was harder than anything i've done in a soul game prob. My second strongest weapon is lvl 10 lol. I like my build: dump all lumina on verso and full might glass canon with base attack into the storm skill, and sciel just gives him her turn and maelle does decent dmg with burn, especially against enemies that play more turns than you. Sciel is also max vitality as the group rezzer that can survive if i fail a group attack parry.

Yea I finished Act 2 with one lvl 15 weapon and the rest like 9. I even missed equipping the pictos you find at the last part of Act 2, so I used level 1-4 Pictos when the lvl 15 ones had a HUGE bonus compared to what I was using.
Trying to fix the guys now in Act 3 and upgrade stuff and switching out to better stat pictos.

yeah every time a new pictos drops i equip it right away so i can level it up to 4 blue bars, i have every pictos maxxed out and available as a luminary if i want. most are pretty useless but 3-4 are extremely badass and worth using points on for everyone. i didn't really understand the pictos unlock->luminary system until the middle of act 2 either, i'm a dumbass
i'm still in act 2 and haven't figured out who the best chars are, i always roll with the non human dude since he "collects" abilities by killing enemies and i assume he has to be in the party for that to work. i stick with maelle and luna otherwise, since they seem important story wise. i'd swap in the main dude but then its a sausage party. story wise i believe all the characters are there at every fight (except forced splits) so its really just personal preference.
i don't really understand sciel's combat system at all so haven't used her, which probably means she is OP as fuck
another tip for early goers, if you turn in 5 lost gestrals you unlock an ability that lets you loot the stuff under the green roots. can do easily in act 2, and worth the extra 30 mins it will take. All Lost Gestrals are in the open world (or least the first 5, I think the last 4 are act 3).

I'm fairly sure some bosses aren't guaranteed but can drop them as a rare chance late game
finished up the achievements last night, the gestral stuff wasnt too bad and i had like 30 of the music records already so it was quick lol
