yeah every time a new pictos drops i equip it right away so i can level it up to 4 blue bars, i have every pictos maxxed out and available as a luminary if i want. most are pretty useless but 3-4 are extremely badass and worth using points on for everyone. i didn't really understand the pictos unlock->luminary system until the middle of act 2 either, i'm a dumbass

i'm still in act 2 and haven't figured out who the best chars are, i always roll with the non human dude since he "collects" abilities by killing enemies and i assume he has to be in the party for that to work. i stick with maelle and luna otherwise, since they seem important story wise. i'd swap in the main dude but then its a sausage party. story wise i believe all the characters are there at every fight (except forced splits) so its really just personal preference.

i don't really understand sciel's combat system at all so haven't used her, which probably means she is OP as fuck

another tip for early goers, if you turn in 5 lost gestrals you unlock an ability that lets you loot the stuff under the green roots. can do easily in act 2, and worth the extra 30 mins it will take. All Lost Gestrals are in the open world (or least the first 5, I think the last 4 are act 3).
Just need 4 of the lost Gestrals to unlock the painted rock thing.

This is the first time I actually had feelings for a character in a game since The Last of Us. When Sophie got turned into flower dust it really hit me. Definitely GOTY for me so far.

If that's all it takes, you're in for a treat. GOTY proclamation just from the launch trailer is wild though.

Should I pick this up on console or PC? I play 98% on PC but this doesn’t seem like a mandatory mouse/keyboard game.
I have an ultra wide monitor and I don’t think the game natively supports 5120x1440 so I’m thinking console might be the move here.

Green man has it like 20% off. Picked it up last night. Ended up staying up way to late playing and now I'm tired at work.
Goddamnit I'm so tempted to pick this up but I've been trying to finish cyberpunk expansion, and then was planning on jumping over to rogue trader. I guess we'll be getting to the steam summer sales soon so maybe I'll just pick it up then, but it really looks amazing.

Honestly wonder if my computer can run it well.

Rogue trader has a new expansion pack coming in a month or so, so I would wait. As to the computer, dont know if this will help but I have a i7 11700K and a 3070 and it runs perfect at like 80-90fps.

Went to the Dark Shore and Got Gud and parried the fuckers there... Now I think I might be a tad bit overleveled lol, for the story at least.

Got stuck in RPG grind mode and just kept farming. Good for exp and the weapon upgrade materials.

I think I've got a 2080 and I don't remember the processor. I bought it in 2019 and it was the top of the line Alienware area 51 laptop.

I need to build a new rig at some point, but I've got other priorities.

I had to drop to DX11 to stop crashes on my relatively high end system, which is annoying. Otherwise game has been great, I'm doing an all parry run and die frequently, but the ripostes are worth it to boost my naturally low endorphin count

I'm running the game on an old ass i5 2500K @4ghz and an rtx2060. Runs smooth enough for me in 1440p.

Goddamnit, don't temp me! I'll probably wait for the summer sale, but that Green Man gaming does have it 15% off. I would imagine steam will probably have something similar then. It looks really amazing but I don't know if the combat mechanics are going to be something I'm going to be good at. Isn't it all quick time reactions or whatever?

You can "auto" the offensive stuff if you don't care about doing ABSOLUTE MAX!!! damage. The defensive stuff you still have to time, however. Although, there is a "story mode" difficulty. I'm not sure if that removes the defensive QTEs or not.

If you've ever played Souls games, the timing necessary on a lot of the combat is a lot more forgiving than those. And dodge is a lot more forgiving than parry if you're still struggling. Plus, with enough farming you can likely just facetank a lot of shit and play it like a more "traditional" JRPG, where you just heal up damage rather than avoiding it.
