Flame Quartz Ring + any gear you have with fire resistance (including weapons like black knight) + dodging his highly telegraphed attacks = win.

With a little gear rearrangement his flame aura should be inconsequential, enough to offset with a lifegem at best and bad enough to need to drink an estus every 4 dodges at worst.

Hrmm, I haven't even seen the shaded woods/ruins yet, guess I need to figure out where that route is. Currently, it seems as though the only areas I have access to that I haven't beaten are the Iron Keep, and the crap down the well(just got the guy who puts the ladder in for you)

Sounds like I need to upgrade some weapons, I'm still using my starter mace as a cleric, it's up to +6 I think, but I don't have any other weapons even over +3. Sounds like I need to look into upgrading something with more range like a spear or greatsword or something.

Anyone with a character or two in the 1.5m and ~7m soul memory range? I want to make a new dude and transfer some stuff like sun sword and gold ring +2 over to him, but none of my current steam friends have dudes in the right ranges.

All warfare is based on deception. Hence, when we are able to attack, we must seem unable; when using our forces, we must appear inactive; when we are near, we must make the enemy believe we are far away; when far away, we must make him believe we are near.

Is there a preferred strategy to the guys that belly flop and fart cloud you? I've found rolling away works, but I get some shitty luck and end up getting farted to death anyways.

Finally beat the 3 sentinels on my first try after loading up last night. Funny how frustrating a fight can be and then you ace it first shot the next day.

They die in one hit to nearly every 1h weapon in the game, so just use something fast with a wide arc and oneshot them all as they come near you.

Right, killing them isn't a problem. It's when I walk into a room with 5 and I hit 4 but that one fart bombs me out of nowhere.

They're pretty annoying mobs, luckily you don't fight them often. You can block the explosion decently, rolling is kinda shitty usually, best way is to hit them before they jump you with a decent reach fast weapon. Running back and splitting them works fine too if you wanna spend some time killing them.

I settled on a new build/challenge: no shield, melee (and bow support) only. Problem is, I'm still using god damn maces 1/4 through the game because they're so good. I want to power stance 2 big strength weapons and don't really care the str requirements. Any tips? I was thinking claymore+greatsword so I can make use of the Claymore's R2 poke for small spaces. BUT if the greatsword is going to be determining swing speed for powerstance moves, maybe I should get an equally slow but powerful weapon instead of claymore.

Any thoughts or anyone done a str powerstance build?

Goddamn you Ornifax! Here I am thinking I'm going to be able to get a bunch of cool weapons with all these goddamn boss souls when I find her, and then she tells me I have to track her down in a different zone, past another boss or two.

One of those bosses you can literally run to from her prison without fighting anything, the other boss is basically the Pinwheel of Dark Souls 2.

As lame as it sounds, I found those distraction skulls really useful for the exploding guys before Sinner. I sucked at fighting them at first too.

Mentioned it above in response to Quineloe's question about strike weapons, but Dark Sacred Chime Hammer + any of the cheater greataxes is the way to go for a heavy str + powerstance build. Black Dragon Greataxe is the best one but it can be a bitch to get because it's such a rare drop and there's only like 1 or 2 of the dragon armor guys who actually can drop it. Lion and Bandit are easy to get, as is Gyrm, but Gyrm requires taking str all the way to 75 to powerstance it.

And the reason they are "cheater" greataxes is because they give the dual straight sword moveset to almost any weapon you mainhand with one of them.

Enjoying the shit out of this game now that I can play it. Went on a run and ended up killing the ruin sentinels, belfry gargs (fuck invaders), lost sinner, medusa, fat roll demon, chariot, skeleton kings or whatever, and now I'm at Smelter Demon. He fucked me once, but he doesn't seem to bad. The worst was actually the chariot.. had the worst time dealing with skeletons + the boss, then I decided to question why I was running to the boss right away, I should let him make another pass and kill the remaining skeletons. This game makes me feel lke an idiot.

I'm not sure how I should be upgrading myself now. I'm straight up melee, usually sword + shield or 2H. Right now I'm using the Drangleic Shield + Drangleic Sword and all the Drangleic Armor. Sitting right below 70%.

Should I invent in the smelter demon set after killing him? I also have the pursuers great sword but using it throws me way above 70% and I'm not sure I like that.
