Yeah, this movie wasn't great. Some of the concepts are interesting, but the plot never pieced them together in a meaningful way. The storytelling, quite literally, failed to respect Chekhov's gun (i.e. if you show a gun, there should be a gunfight) which made the 'climax' dull. It was hard to care about anyone and the last 30m were just rushed garbage with stupid things happening.

The Cell did it better 20 years ago.
