All of these youtube videos coming out about the supply shortage of RAM etc. and how its affecting the price of the components. I looked up the parts on PC Partpicker to see what theyre going for now and its not just RAM. The PC I built in late 2023 is worth about $700 more NOW, than it did.. then.

I think there’s also the opportunity of excuse.
corporations will use any excuse to artificially inflate their prices under the guise of “inflation.” Whether it be in COVID in 2020 or now with AI, prices are going up because corporations CAN and will because AI gives them cover.
I ended up buying my 2x16 cl30 6000 MHz ram off eBay used , and even then it was still $105. Which is $35 more than I paid for similar ram brand new in 2024.

Not exactly the same mini PC - but its more focused on the integrated graphics that it has - and what matters mostly. Its hard to compare to a dedicated graphics card because they dont run the same way. In traditional tests, it would bench out less than a 980 GTX which is old af. But thankfully, thats not how it works.

My BIL machine learning for Nvidia.
he was telling me yesterday that what they design programs and coding for is tech that’s 2-3 years old usually. Since, by Nvidia’s logic, the tech will last ten years or so, Nvidia doesn’t mind writing code for older hardware.
I think the real crutch is ram heavy programs like Unreal 5 and mandatory ray tracing (from the ground up) that are just lazy ways to make games that do not care about code optimization at all and just rely on greater and greater system requirements. Meanwhile games like The Rise of the Tomb Raider is 10 years old and still looks incredible.
