It happens even with no audio playing. Complete freeze then complete unfreeze. No chugging before or after.

EDIT: didnt see the COMPUTER ISSUES thread. moving

My brother wants to upgrade his computer. Has a piece of shit older AMD processor and it's bottlenecking hard (100% load both cores while gaming). He wants to leverage a few things like his HDD, optical drive, power supply (600W), new graphics card (GTX 650 Ti Boost or whatever).

I told him I could help him out. He wants to go as cheap as he can. I recommended we get these items and should have a full system. Am I missing anything? Any recommendations over these items? I know I could go cheaper with a non-K i5, but I really want to overclock him and hook him up:

I did this in about 3 minutes, so there's a chance I'm missing a part or two. This comes to roughly ~$485.

Any help is appreciated.

so im looking for a new monitor for some reason mine stopped working, it will not pick up a signal from my computer, unless i also have my HDMI cord connected from my video card to my TV, i was using a dual set up where my monitor was main and my TV was extended.

But now basically if i just have the monitor hooked up it wont detect a signal, if i have the dual setup connected (hdmi cord from tv to pc) the monitor grabs a single ive googled everywhere couldent find shit the monitor clearly works..... so im actually not sure if its the monitor or maybe some fucking retarded setting but i never changed anything.

i dont know shit about monitors i dont need something giant, 24 inches or more, id want HD i dont know shit about monitors or really where to buy them online, looking for some suggestions or maybe just a point in the right direction.

I literally went to bed and it was working, and woke up to this problem.

I've never encountered that problem before, but have you tried completely removing your graphics drivers and reinstalling them?

I like the Asus z87pro a lot more than the Hero.

And that 1TB hard drive is shit. You're not going to fit your whole steam folder and other games on your SSD so you need something better than that.

I'm a huge fan of this drive.

And I would go with a 2 stick 16gb kit or just stick with 8gb.

Join.me works pretty well across all platforms.

You can get 10 shares on the free version (used to be 25) and up to 250 on the paid one - which also has a free trial.

I used to use Cisco webEx but always hated it, since join.me i've not used anything else.

Easier to upgrade to the max (32GB, just add another 2x8gb). With 4x4gb you'd have to throw away 4 DIMMs and then get 4x8gb to go to max.

Also in my case the 2x8gb is actually slightly cheaper than 4x4gb.

This could all be hearsay but 2x8 should run cooler than 4x4 and would put less pressure on your North Bridge. I seem to recall one of my more technologically advanced friends that if you can, stick with less... sticks. Sorry for the pun.

Jesus, HDs are still insanely high. I purchased a bunch of 2TB Western Digital drives before the floods and price hikes and they were about $90 each. The one you linked is half the size (1TB) and $130!

^^300% more storage for 28% more cost of the one you linked.^^
There's sites that have that drive cheaper. These new Seagate ES.3 disks are just really fucking zippy.

My video card is shitting the bed (artifacts during POST, takes about 40 restarts to get into Windows, then the driver crashes within 3 minutes but will recover and perform normally) and I'm visiting America so I think it's good to get a replacement before returning to grossly overpriced Korea. My CPU is a 2500k and the card I'm replacing is a 6950. I have dual monitors but I play on a single 1920x1080.

What's a good middle of the road card to get? Money isn't really an issue but I figure A) my CPU is pretty old and may be a limiting factor and B) there just aren't that many graphically intense games that I'm interested in on the horizon.
