There havent been 50 better games than Deus Ex (let alone 200) that have come out since 2000

The storyline sounded a bit far fetched when game was released. In 2025 it sounds prophetic

Need Mass Effect in 2008 but otherwise I don't a single issue with this list. Every one of these (I didn't play a few, like GOWs, Metro 2033, or a few of the others) were amazing gaming experiences.

Edit: I didn't get the context of the post, I thought we were talking about how Deus Ex BELONGED on that list, not that were better than; This game and Deus Ex: Human Revolution are on my all-time favorites list.

Totally agree from everything I've seen. This is a must to get to eventually. It's so antiquated visually though and that's tough to get into now (see also my struggles getting into Neverwinter Nights, KOTOR, and the early Armored Cores).

I'll throw Deus Ex onto my CRPG master list and get to it whenever I resume that project, since I was doing things in chronological order and being visually antiquated doesn't stand out as much when all you're playing are games from that specific era.

I guess it's subjective and all because I would not call the majority of that list better than Deus Ex.

The true strength of deus ex was always the story, gameplay and dialogue. This remaster looks just like most other remasters like baldurs gate etc, a lazy texture and lighting update
The remaster of Baldur's Gate is great. I just beat BG1 (again) with it! It also supports mods that we made 20 years ago which is fantastic.

Helps that it's 2d and the art work is good, so to upscale from the 17" 640x480 CRT (or whatever) I played it on in 2000 to the 34" ultrawide I have now you can just kinda zoom out and it works. They don't even need to bother much with any of the underlying graphics.

”good” as in they replace the albeit dated 3D movies with crap flash animations which are an unfortunate scourge of modern gaming, its inexcusable that the intermission movies made in 2000s with love are low tier animations these days, and of course put in some additional wokeness on the side as well, the game wasnt meant for zooming out which breaks mechanics on certain encounters
