Yea its Friends and Family + popular streamers of the game at the moment. Closed beta via top-ins by end of the year.
Still looks like Late March/April release then, but I suppose they planned that with the AH closing on March 18th

It looks fun

Wonder how early they'll have the PTR stuff up. With the new class changes, item 2.0 and difficulty changes, could be fun to play while waiting for a beta key which probably won't come until 1week before the release.

So let me get this straight for the books, PC is loot 1.0, console is 1.5, and both ports will be receiving an even larger upgrade/enhancement to Loot 2.0 with this expansion/patch?

Confirm/deny? I've sifted through a lot of shit, but I'm tired and can't come to a conclusion. Sorry for a dumb question.

I think console loot mechanics will always be a bit different to PC , since they seem to make up for the lack of precision in control with increased power of the player, but it should be similar.

In my opinion, console difficulty needs a reworking - not the loot anymore. The loot (has as been stated many times previously in this thread) is so ridiculous that finding 1 good piece at the beginning of any act will completely trivialize the rest of the entire act, or whatever else. It's absolutely retarded. Inferno, MP5 kind of shit? Get a couple pieces of Black or White or even less than that, and it's literally just a mad dash of slaughter with no challenge - playing with bare minimums on Hard, MP1/2 is honestly hard as fuck and rewarding. It's too weird.

Since our Reaper of Souls Closed Beta test will also feature all content in the expansion (again, excluding the final boss fight)
At least they're learning. D3 beta was pretty much useless.

You can say the same thing for D3 on PC. Just search the AH for level req -11 weapons every 5 levels or so and just faceroll to Hell.

Yeah I can't ask them to go back in time and correct the mistakes they made for the D3 release but at least they're correcting them with the RoS beta at least. I feel many, many of the issues with Inferno difficulty and overall loot blandness would have been uncovered during beta if they had it 6mo-9mo before release.

Time was not a problem. Remember they only let you play up to level 12(I think) and the Skeleton King? Beta could have lasted forever, Inferno was never getting tested. And this was never a "well, we never thought of it" thing. The previous douchebag in charge specifically said they didn't want to spoil the game. Like he knew how bad the D3 story was and didn't want it to hurt sales.

Well they definitely had an internal alpha/beta thing like they always do, so the shit was tested, but they could have ignored feedback or maybe the testers didn't provide the right feedback, or both. Opening it to more people would have been better for sure though. It was a dumb way to run the beta, and it ran for so long with that lvl 13 cap too, fucking waste of money on the servers and shit. If they were only gonna test 13 they should have ran like 3-4weekend betas instead.

Internal F&F alpha isn't a proper vet like a closed beta test. For the most part you'll either have only employees playing the game or you'll not have enough "power gamers" to fully test certain functionality. Most people agreed outside of the bad storyline the first playthrough of Diablo 3 wasn't half bad. The combat was fun, you upgraded your loot pretty regularly and the AH didn't rear it's downside. But once you sit in Inferno for a while farming at 60 a host of issues crop up. I don't think that "Sit at 60 for a while" phase of the game was tested.

Right as I said they either ignored feedback or good feedback wasn't provided. Either is possible, if you only had a few people at higher levels maybe they discarded their feedbacks because it wasn't a general opinion(even though it was the opinion of the only people that should have mattered when discussing these concerns) or because they thought they knew better(which wouldn't surprise me too much). And yeah considering the game type, they should have had a large scale testing for endgame but I don't know there was so much stuff to redo, would they have bothered? If you look at the RoS changes, almost everything is being changed. Class balance changes apart which are expected and natural, they have to change the difficulty(which will affect the leveling I assume), the items, the endgame farming systems and they're removing the AH. That's basically like an entirely new game that resuses existing assets.

To be fair, they did the same thing with D2 beta and that game turned out fine. I'm actually looking forward to the expansion, maybe I'll finally get my money's worth out of the game. I only played D3 for about 2 weeks post release before I got bored and gave up on it.

IIRC, the even came out and said that Inferno was tested and they doubled the monster HP after QA told them it was just right. Then it was probably not tested again... It was big talking point even here, people were laughing at the idea of Inferno being actually hard, turns it out the right term was "tedious"

Been watching a couple of streams that weren't streaming new content, game definitely looks a ton better. The leveling(1-60 I mean but also 60+) looked fast, you can level wherever you want, people were updating all their gear constantly(granted it was without the AH so they didn't have the best gear possible to begin with). Most importantly I think was that there was no constant story telling shit and go back to town to turn in your quest to activate whatever the fuck, it was just constantly, you know, playing the game. Looked pretty fun, the bounties I'm not a big fan of, they feel a bit too short but they lead to nephalem rifts which are basically maps in other games of the genre, and those last quite a bit.

Now I'm looking forward not getting an invite. Hoping for PTR before the end of the year too so I can fuck around on it.

I was watching some of the streams and boy does the pace seem shitty. Maybe it has to do with the streamers playing in higher difficulties than they're suppose to but it took like a minute of kiting to kill some of the elite mobs. Really? That shit should be dropping in 20 seconds MAX. 1 minute fights should only be reserved for Diablo or some main boss fights.

I been watching Moldran's and Modz stream all day long. Soon as Kripp hops on I will be watching his stream. He already updated histwitchpage for D3. Guess it's time for me to finally level one of my characters to paragon 100. Going to be difficult between this HS and PoE.
