I think a monk is "easier" to solo with, in the sense that you pretty much auto-attack to kill everything while making sure to refresh your supporting skills (sweeping, mantra, flash, etc). You can be pretty lazy with it and still do well. A WW barb is the most efficient build, but it takes a lot more work to play it well and make it efficient.

I personally prefer a Seismic Slam barb because it is fun for me. However, it is much less efficient than a WW barb.
maybe im playing my barb wrong but, aside from refreshing sprint i just hold down the WW button and WOTB when i can, and or give myself the crit buff if it fades, its definitely not something that requires skill maybe a little more attention is all.

Oh and overpower

I've started playing again too on my monk. I had like 3.50 left on my account after selling everything earlier when I stopped playing. That little money got me enough gold to get to 120k+ DPS and able to farm on mp8 easily.

Monk gear can be really cheap if you get some pieces with just the resist you are stacking and no all resist. I picked up poison resist Inna's chest and legs for 9mil. I dropped the most on 2 life steal weapons with open sockets, but other than that most of my gear was 1mil to 9mil a piece.

With all the gear I got I was also able to ditch serenity for bells. I kill pretty quick on mp8 with my new build (by new I mean the old cookie cutter cyclone build with bells instead of serenity).

Deathwing, how do you like your Skorn build? I seem to kill so much slower with mine when though it's a 30k character sheet DPS upgrade. I'm thinking I need to focus on getting attack speed on both rings and neck for it to be effective.

I haven't tried a WoL build, yet. I prefer fast attacks, so it's probably something I'll do when I get bored again.

Tecknoe, you're doing it wrong. The point of the WoTB build is to hit WoTB only once. You have to be meticulous about refreshing sprint, otherwise you lose one or two tornados.

I already have a 40ish barb so maybe I'll just finish it up.
How long would that take? I really just want to blow through leveling a character to farm MP-X with (as I'm not sure my WD is able), but everytime I start up it's just brutal to replay the same fucking storyline every time. Is there a faster leveling setup I should be doing? I'd imagine it's "level to X, do this quest segment over and over until Y, move to this quest segment until Z..." but have no idea what it would be.

I havent leveld up in a bit, but i remember using cains set, gem in helm, hellfire ring, and just keep upgrading weapons with sockets every 5 lvls you should be able to clear high dense areas so easy and fast, this was a long time ago but i did arreat crater (on the way to asmo) over and over again, im sure theres some better spots now, but i would try to get cains set, gem in helm at least.

Anyone still playing this want some company? just picked it up again gonna put my remaining gold into my barb add me Teck#1602

Yeah i get the idea death, but im not sure i even have the gear capable of keeping it up for very long, so when should i sprint? its not like i spam it just to spam it i do only refresh it when its about to fall, appreciate any tips you can throw out.

The key to leveling fast is that all non-inferno difficulties can easily be played at MP10. Gear up by spending 50-100K per slot, give the character a HF ring, and once you hit lvl 42+, buy a level-reduced lvl61+ weapon. You can typically sell back the gear on the AH at least at break-even (if not a profit) as you level out of it. I had several paragon levels before I even got to Inferno with my alts.

EDIT: Tecknoe makes some other good points. Sockets are king on lower level gear because of the huge stats on gems with no lvl requirement. Use an experience gem in a Cain's helm. You should be able to find gear with prime stat, vit, PUR, +Exp and Sockets at reasonable prices and (per above) get your money back on it.

No, that's the idea. Refresh sprint when it's about the falloff. Otherwise, you might cutoff a tornado or 2. I don't know about you, but I don't want to watch a 3s buff in the lower left while watching my rage in the lower right(so I can hit battle rage to prevent overflow), while spamming overpower(or listening for it's refresh sound amongst the battle). All the while frantically moving from one group of mobs to the next to make sure I have enough to sustain WoTB and sprint.

Not hard. Just fucking tedious. CM wizards are almost as bad. Less shit to watch, more buttons to mash.

I like superstition for lightning enchanted mobs. Bloodthirst might be better if you don't have any LS weapons.

Alrigh cool thanks, also i was poking around on the d3 forums and saw this interesting concepthttp://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/top...6359792?page=1

Group of people trying to build their own "league" of some sort, where everything is selfmade, no AH theres some rules but obviously none to enforce it, i wish blizzard would incorporate these things... also i wish we still had a big enough community on here to maybe try something of the sort.

Also whats the best routes for paragon farming, leg farming etc now? i havent kept up but i remember tenks and a few others saying if you can manage trash on mp10 its a good route in a certain spot i forget maybe WRs?

Just a heads up for those that have not played in a while. I got a notification from Blizz that I had changed my email and ps for my Blizz acct (which I hadn't). Contacted them on the phone and got it fixed, and sure enough all my items, characters, and cash were gone. Asked for the reset and was told that they couldn't because they didn't have a recent enough reset point. So, if you have not logged in for a while (months) they won't be able to fix your stolen and wiped stuff.

I loved the "just buy the coder and this wouldn't be a problem" sales pitch. If it wouldn't be a problem, why didn't you include it in the box sale? I'm sure on that massive a scale it would have only cost us a couple of extra bucks. But no, they want to squeeze out every extra bit of cash. Whatever Blizz...

Why not just use the smart phone application? I don't have a fob but I just have to log in with my phone's code once a week. Don't blame blizz for you getting "hacked" since 9/10 it is your fault.

Love the blizz trying to make more money arguement, thats why the smartphone app is free and they only are charging you s&h on the fob, sounds like a winning business model to me.

To be fair Blizz isn't doing it out of the kindness of their hearts. The more people protected by 2step autho means their phone lines won't constantly be flooded with people complaining about this elite group of hackers who ninja'd their way into Blizzard's servers and stole just your password and no one else's. So that means they can hire far less CS people.

Doesn't help if you don't have a smart phone. And why exactly is it my fault that my account was hacked? The Blizz rep himself said it's a constant problem for them. The fact that I weekely scan my computer and it's allways clean, as well as a 12 digit password w/alpha and numberic, should have made it pretty tough. Don't get me wrong, it's not like I was all that upset about it. I only had 20 million or so, and although I did have all 5 classes at max, my WD was the only one that had any real paragon level of play, 26th or so I believe.

Like I said, I hadn't logged in for months.

The comment about the rep pushing the authenticator was mostly just humorous and irritating at the same time.

Phone authenticators suck anyway. I've had to send them a copy of my DL 3 times to get authenticators removed when changing phones. And before anyone asks, yes I wrote down the serial number and restore code, it just never actually worked right and let me back in to the account without calling them.

I really want to like this game. I love the shit out of D2 and D3's engine is really nice, so I almost get an urge to play again.

The #1 problem (of a long list) I have with this game is the huge fucking chore it is to evaluate and sell drops. I would have probably preferred a more barter-like system instead of an AH, but since we have an AH, Blizzard needs to make using it much less of a chore. There needs to be some sort of tool or feature to quickly determine what is worth picking up, what is worth selling, and how much to sell it for. The AH makes for extreme liquidity; ALL of your shit comes from the AH and ALL of your money comes from selling shit in the AH-- and it's a huge pain in the fucking ass to convert drops to gold. I want to kill shit, not do stat searches on every goddamn drop I deem worth selling after keeping one drop out of 100. I quadrupled my DPS spending 4m gold on my old barb, killed for an hour, then realized I had to read a bunch of item stats and do auction searches to determine value and just fucking logged off.

This game needs filters to hide item drops guaranteed to be or extremely likely to be worthless, approximate item values in tooltips, a 'sell junk' button on vendors to sell low value items, and buy orders. Bots already have equivalent functionality; Blizzard needs to remove the chores from their game for the legit players. Are there any third party tools to do any of this that aren't bots?

And if they don't put in a ladder system in the expac or sooner, they are beyond redemption.

Wait, how exactly is it hard? Right click the item you want to sell, select the compare label and see what they sell for on the AH.

9999/10000 it isn't worth picking up a rare that isn't: Wand, WD weapon, Dagger, Axe (1/2H), Mace (1/2H), Sword(1/2H) or Mighty Weapon (1H). Since they added the crafted shoulders/bracers being BiS I don't think those really sell. Anymore I only pick up set/legendary items except for 1H axes and daggers.
