He's kind of deceiving, for a satan he goes down really quick and he has no gap closer or stuns. Then again, you can go max Devour+Midas and run around with full inventory 35 minutes in. He's used mostly vs single or dual core lineups, where if you doom that one guy with farm, the fight is probably going in your favor.

Also for some odd reason I have 80+% winrate with CM, probably most pubs aren't ready for the lane being so aggressive ? And being able to fall back on jungling is always nice.

CM is my best hero too. I'm 8 and 1 with Disruptor, technically though, so that's my best ratio (not a very high sample I know.)

I think I'm like 16 and 7 with CM or something. Also have a winning ratio as KOTL. I think all my best ratios are support, never play carries often enough to have even played a single one 10 times I don't think, even in like 350 games or whatever I have.

I love playing CM / Necrolyte / KOTL (oh, sorry, Necrophos) at the beginning as you can shut down so many people, at least in the pubs I play.

I am kind of curious if rating does take playing a support in account, versus getting a bunch of kills regularly as carries. I think I do reasonably decent even as support, though. I often get like 5 to 10 kills as some supports without too many deaths.

I would hope if rating did take into account a ratio it would be k/d/a and not k/d.

Hopefully it also takes into account vision control. Partaking of objectives etc.

I don't think it takes into account anything other than your MMR vs. the MMR of your opponents. I have a solid 2600 rating here, I just don't give a shit and still random half the time but I'm finding you get put together with some real shit and even if you play amazing if you lose because you have retarded teammates you lose rating. Had an LC go 1/18 this morning or some shit and we lost but I was 10/1/19 on a lone druid, still lost 40 rating points.

In pubs you can win games without a good support but its unlikely to win without a good carry.
yeah i wanna agree with this, but there have been games where i carry hard as fuck, and we lose because of zero support, then theres games like last night, where my team picked 4 carries and i went warlock, we realistically only won because i was not a faggot and went support.

and if thats the case they are just shooting themselves in the foot, making everyone wanna play carry because its more for your raiting means nobodys going support like i saw last night.

Well of course you get put with real shit at 2600 rating, that's fucking dumpster tier.

I disagree with this in higher bracket solo queue at least, often times the team with the superior supports win the game because of the advantages they grant in the early game - ganking warding counter warding, rotations. These things can snowball a game or delay it long enough to get a carry online - without proper vision - if the enemy team pushes its advantages you won't get your carry online. Now at lower brackets when overall map efficiency is poor and people play more passively in lane through the game I agree you need some killing power. But I lose more games without solid supports than any other type of game - I play support in solo queue probably 60% of the time at least. People who can carry or mid are a dime a dozen compared to supports. There is no reason you can't climb easily full timing support, this isn't league of legends - many of the supports in dota are absolute terrors from 1-11 in levels - always make sure to take advantage of the powercurve that the supports have if the game requires it - find a way to gank - 3 smokes that result in kills in the first 10-15 minutes will absolutely be worth more in gold and xp to your team than the 300g to you.

I love dota, 50 minute game, 122 kills. That's my biggest preference knock on league - you farm all game and win off 10 kills.

Definitely, it's amazing how much you can do with a support.

Just got done playing a match with Venge where I managed to get both Force staff and Blink ... It's like Pudge without any skill required ! Well, besides queuing swap and blink

From my experience, the only time you can win without moderate support or without an average carry is the games are really long or short, respectively. Both are needed for the average game if you're playing against a serious team. If you're playing trash, then well -- there's been several games I've carried with OM/AA and shouldn't have been able.

Well either I'm not good at mid or a better support. Probably because playing a few games with reth has shown me early kill opportunities which I take more advantage in dual lane then mid. My timing is all off too when I gank with mid. However if I can get a solo hard I think I do best. My most successful hero is elder Titan. Followed by lina. Not the highest skill hero but not the lowest either.

You know what I really like I notice hardly anyone seems to play? Undying. Very fun support. Tombstone is badass at low levels. Think I'm 5 and 1 as UD so far. I think maybe because he's so rarely played, people don't know how to handle him very well (in my shit bracket, that is.)

Undying is a good hero - he just has no stun and is melee - which makes putting him into a lane where he can be effective a chore. Rule against undying though is either you can kill the tombstone or you are running away from that fight. You never want to be stuck in a fight with infinity zombies. If you do play him, get 1 point in his Q(str steal) if you can STR steal opposing heroes 2 or 3 at a time in dual or trilanes you can setup a solid opportunity to kill a CM with 350 health. Often people don't notice that they only have 350 life, because it doesn't actually lower their health bar just lowers the max - like having your int stolen by OD. Probably another mechanic you can abuse at your skill because people aren't familiar with him.

Probably the biggest thing when ganking mid is where the creep equilibrium is and how safe or aggressive the enemy hero is being. If the enemy hero has an escape you probably need 2 disables to get the kill, if the enemy hero is like OD or SF - just be ready to punish them for being out of position. Often times when mid is going sideways for your ally it offers really good gank opportunity to get first blood because the enemy hero will push too far forward. If your mid has no lane control and the creep wave is sitting on the opponents high ground don't rotate then, however this is where smoke can really pay off because you can stand there waiting for the enemy hero to make a positional mistake and you're close enough to abuse it as the smoke keeps you hidden.

With the night time changes, Either smoke mid before 4 minutes, or try and rotate in once night time hits. As a support if you can decipher where the enemy team places their initial 2 vision wards (if they purchased them), it provides you with a massive advantage in the first 6-7 minutes dewarding those wards is very valuable. You can rotate, gank, and navigate the map knowing that they do not see you unless its with a hero.

think even at lower brackets the amount of an early game edge i can give my mid carry as a solid support with warding and other shit has won me 4-5 straight and i seem to win more when i support since my mid seems to do alot better since maybe another support wont constantly ward etc.

i think its just rarer to find a good support at lower brackets than it is to find a "decent" farmer / carry.

Eh, in the lower bracket this is arguably MORE important than in the higher brackets. Rarely ever do you see teams coming from behind after an early start in the lower bracket. If a support is getting like solo kills in the jungle that's one thing, the jungler is going to be under farmed and the support might get some items, but if you're able to feed your awful carry kills, then they will just dominate because all they have to do is A move.

Support in Dota is deep and challenging, Early game supports often get to play the initiator. Understanding if the lanes are winning or losing can allow a rotation that can turn around an upside down lane or snowball a lane with an edge even harder. The biggest thing about warding that I have more recently incorporated into my game is chosing ward placements based on game state (Pushing an objective, securing enough farm, suppressing a specific hero etc), rather than just "what are the best spots?" No ward spot is bad if it furthers a current or short term game objective. Warding is its own minigame. With limited wards dewarding is far more potent than it would otherwise be. Checking the opposing teams supports for wards and deciphering where the wards are placed can give a huge edge to the team.

Additionally I think you learn teamfighting much faster on supports because late game supporting is a challenge. With bkbs, limited items, often underleveled the support will be the easiest target. Being effective and staying alive in these situations can really be the x-factor in winning games.

I had the quintessential warlock experience tonight. Team down 7.5k, 3k xp, We have a pretty strong wombo (silence/bonds/rock) We need to force a teamfight, call to go t1 bot, I ward up vision with 2 wards so we can see the jungle flank completely, and a couple sentries. I dive into the secret shop tell my team by their behavior they want to fight, we position up and the following ensued.
