I don't know how many folks been watching eastern dota - but Vici Gaming is absolutely ruining nerds right now. They are just in a fucking crazy destruction mode - their supports are bar none and Rotk is drafting hard. They have just dominated DK/IG/LGD.cn in different events - sina and D2L East. Great games. FY studly.

I haven't watched much, but what I did watch TongFu looked like they were playing really well too, they crushed DK and were winning their next game when I turned it off. I want to see ZSMJ do well!

That guy playing Nyx the past few matches (For VG) is the best i've ever seen. He even shat on Mushi's OD one game as Nyx. Can't say i've ever seen that before.

VG was doing well before the TI3 qualifiers as well, even took a series off of I think iG, who were at the time nearly unbeatable. Then they fell apart at the qualifiers. Glad to see them back.

Its not the same roster as then, Sylar of LGD is their 1 role player, and RoTK and Super (who were on DK and replaced by mushi/iceiceice). Fy and Fenrir have been with them for a while though, FY is playing out of his mind right now.

Ranked Matchmaking is Coming

The next major update will add a ranked matchmaking feature to the game. This mode is aimed at experienced players who want to play in a more competitive environment and know their matchmaking rating (MMR). Dota 2 matchmaking has always calculated MMR and used it to form matches; in ranked matchmaking we make that MMR visible.

Here's what you need to know about ranked matchmaking:

Ranked matchmaking is unlocked after approximately 150 games.
All players in the party must have unlocked the mode.
Currently, only All Pick, Captains Mode, and Captains Draft are available.
You may not participate in ranked matchmaking while in the low priority pool.
Coaches are not allowed in ranked matchmaking.
Matches played in normal matchmaking do not impact your ranked matchmaking MMR, and vice versa.
Your ranked MMR is visible only to you and your friends. The MMR used for normal matchmaking is not visible.
When you first start using ranked matchmaking, you will enter a calibration phase of 10 games. During this time, your ranked MMR will not be visible.

Unless it includes regional ip filters or some other aspect to improve match quality, I'm not all that interested. Right now there is no point in putting your "rank" public if the random group of non-native (to you) speaking / or non-in game voip players join the pool. Minus removing game modes and taking out LPQ, what is there to try and insure games are any better in quality than regular mm?

At least in regular I can gold brick, counter troll, or just leave. Now I have the option of getting punished for that and only increase the opportunity for people to troll because of their e-peen score or perceived threat to it?

Still, I don't really see the point of tryharding in solo Q, if they actually improved the already implemented team matchmaking, then we might be talking, but for now it's just broken and not worth it.

The best part of the article is the one where they discuss measuring an even match with the gold difference, that's actually pretty smart (I know it's Valve). I wonder how many pro games would qualify as "fun" in this case - probably most of the EG ones :p

A lot of people asked for a solo queue visible rating, basically so they can see who they're matched with and change the complaint from "this guy has x games played, this guy is a new player, why is he in my game" to "this game has x rating even though he sucks, I'm not at the rating I belong because my team always sucks". Won't do a whole lot but I assume a lot of people will be pleased.

While the system is not perfect, it still tries to match you up with equally skilled players. Unfortunately, a lot of factors play into this, group size, if low/high skill players are in a group together, how many people are searching for any one type of game type at a time, etc.

Though at least people would be justified in bitching when they complain about being paired with low skilled or sub 100 games played players.

Just like they have a "Report Player" they should have a functionality of "Incorrect Language"

If I put ENGLISH only and get a bunch of Costaguadamexaricans in my team that speak NO english whatsoever I should be able to tell the system "This person doesn't speak english" the more people report it they don't get matched on English only matches.

What's happening is that those guys want a MATCH RIGHT NOW and just select or leave everything default so they get added to the english games. Annoying as fuck.

Not just that though, most of south american players get better pings on US servers than SA servers, because of stupid routing and hosting and what not. Russians play western europe servers because they get faster queues too. Obviously in the lot there's a bunch of retards who play just to troll other people and cause they're assholes, and some do because they have everything on and the english queues pop faster, but a large part of the issue is that the "english" servers are technically better than the regional servers for them.

i know this was discussed before but cant seem to find it in the thread, just got my new pc so i gotta redo my dota configs and shit, but i dont remember how i actually got them to stick so i didnt have to type it in console everytime.

google dota custom .cfg or something like that, eventually it should point you to some modified ones and you can go from there.
