I’d say just buy the first one for even cheaper. It’s a good game, the sequel is weak. Maybe the DLC will fix it but I probably won’t even try unless I hear it does fix it. They’d have to rework the core game some for it to work for me though. The world design with cliffs everywhere is awful. The mob density and mix is awful as well.

I still haven't uninstalled it, but I know from watching reviews and streams that there is very little worth actually playing in the mid-game to end-game.
Agree that a DLC by itself won't set things right like it did for DD1's DLC. It needs an overhaul. Feels like this was slapped together in a short production cycle and rammed out the door by Capcom. Nothing about DD2 says "we worked on this game" it feels designed by a team that showed up to work late and hungover with project leads not checking anything as long as it makes the project deadline.

The Dark Arisen in the original was amazing, but I am dubious. The core bits were in place for DD2, but it just never came together and the story was complete garbage that an expansion won't fix. Also the farm was dumb for the end game.

Think they realized the only shot at appeal is to fuel the "remake" aspect since they failed at everything else.
A good portion of the DD2 community never accepted it was a sequel despite 1 or 2 small story beats thrown in to give it a sequel story. I agree since it was closer to DD 0.5 than 2.0. A remake is more fitting.

The original Dark Arisen was just so goddamn good. One of my all time favorite games.
DD2 was such a disappointment that I am not optimistic about their ability to fix it. Some of the changes in the upcoming patches look good, like going back to 6 abilities. That would make wayfarer actually worth trying.
I hope they do this right, but I'm definitely going to wait a while after the DLC releases.
