Hopefully this is faithful to the arcade so I can finally see what's past the third room.

If there isn't a gloriously violent montage of Dirk the Daring dying for 15mintues straight then this movie is a fucking joke and can go fuck itself because the producers don't understand the appeal of the game in the first place.

Did the OG have her just in the black, did they add the sparkely mesh later? or vice versa...

but it will be a 200 lb trans woman of color none the less

edit: Pedro will be the hero(ine)

To get the authentic experience, the movie can’t start until you press a button the nanosecond you’re supposed to, otherwise you’re forced to watch more commercials

Haha! :p

I remember this like it was yesterday. Hanging out at the arcade, would play some bubble hockey or Star Wars arcade game, and then would mosey over to the always being played Dragon's Lair and the crowds were so big they had 27" CRT's on top of the cabinet showing the game being played. Was glorious. Technically speaking, the first streaming experience :p

Yeah I remember the big monitor above so everyone can watch. I have the game on my arcade cabinet at home. I still suck at the game. There's two versions also. One without the hints and one with the blinking yellow hints. I suck at both.

Original game had her in black with the sparkely mesh as well

Dragon's Lair II had her in blue with the mesh

Man I spent so many allowances on this game. Still have a ROM version upstairs with I/II and Space Ace on it

Pretty much. Dragon's Lair basically started the whole interactive FMV, which eventually evolved into QTE.

I remember our arcade in the early 90s got other FMV games like MadDog Mcree and Space Pirates - those were the light gun games where you had to shoot a specific spot to progress, but the hit detection was absolute ass combined with the obscure timing component. Seriously fuck the "shoot the fuse" sequence in MadDog - you could line up the shot perfectly and shit always failed. Space Pirates was funny because Will Wheaton (post leaving TNG) was an extra in it and would get killed if you didn't do an event properly lol

There was also that "holographic" game - Time something? Basically it was like Dragon's Lair but the gimmick was you looked at some rounded display and it projected the characters into the display in a way that made them look like holograms/3d projections.

Those games were all ripoffs because they cost a dollar back then and were designed to make you fail without trial and error

That sega 3D one holovision or whatever- creeped me out as a kid, the skull death animation flashing strobe was creeeepy to little me… hated that game because of it.

I remember the super big hype at the height of the FMV games- the 3DO was essentially made to be a FMV game system and it died with them- but the huge hype over this game- like it was a sci fi blockbuster movie with a huge script and effects and actor and money it was like “LIVE THE MOVIE”… the Deledius encounter?

Okay making me look it up…prepare for an edit…
