I believe it's actually ~$20. May be worth, I'll probably give it a shot. Hopefully it has decent depth. I'm not expecting 500 hours, but hopefully I could get 100.
Edit: I'm BIG wrong. I saw a video a few days ago saying it was going to be around $20, but maybe it was bad info or the dev changed his mind. Definitely playing if it's completely F2P.
Hopefully he can do, in my opinion, the best thing and sell some for-funsies MTX for cheap to make a buck or two to at least keep it running.

I, for one, am at the point where I don’t bother to pay attention anymore until a game has released, been posted on Youtube or Twitch so I can see its Live version in action, and received reviews from folks I trust.

But the server is fully capped at 3k players apparently and now SodaPoppin is playing it which will just increase interest. The admins say they need a big dog admin or dev to open a mirror server up so most people ain't getting in for a while, myself included.

Game is pretty solid but it just doesn't really have a future. The guy can't monetize this without getting the fuck sued out of him, since he's using unlicensed assets. And because he's just one dude, it'll take forever to develop content.
Cool proof of concept though. I'm sure he'll get hired by some company in the industry.

Apparently this guy has already run many WoW Classic servers and shut them down with little to no notice at points. People on the MMO Reddit are talking about him like he's the greatest villain they've ever known, but apparently he never took any money or anything. He just got bored/frustrated with his servers and shut them down. Still not great, but if it costs no money and you know going in not to invest your life into it's not going to destroy you.
Apparently he said he's going to give out the source code to other people so they can host it/tinker with it as well. Dude's probably just a mega MMO fan with a high paying job that doesn't understand how awful communities make running something like this until it hits him and he just hits the delete button. Can't blame him, most of these people are incredibly entitled pieces of shit demanding $70 game worth from a $0 game.

The two people going "um, those files aren't in the directory? They were already on your computer from something else." Is pretty funny.
Doubt there's malware, at most there's some backdoor to the WORDPRESS site to get your DREADMYST ACCOUNT AND LOGIN (!!!!) so if you didn't make it some throwaway password at the least then I don't know what to tell you. I barely even fucking trust the AAA companies anymore and anything that isn't run through Stream's auth system I pretty much make a garbo password. Having this not tied to any pay service is just an extra layer of security.
Game is fun, I got to ~20 as a cleric with my group. At level 17, I believe, you can invest in a bunch of stats you couldn't before like raw crit chance/dodge/LOCKPICKING, etc. Definitely makes exp spending more interesting as you're capped at level 25. For instance as a Cleric I have to decide to get 150 strength for the majority of my coming exp to wear plate or not and use that elsewhere. Gear +stats gets pretty crazy. With +50 for some stats on some items.
Game is fun, I haven't made it to the solo or group dungeon yet, but for a group of 4 you'd probably get 20-50ish hours of play maybe? The soloDev guy said if it did really well (and it is) he'd add a second map essentially doubling the world size so that could be interesting, but he's still got his hands full with server pop/auth stuff/a queue system for a bit until the launch curiosity dies down a bit.
