I ended up chosing Convergence because it apparently changes the game more, and also turns the game into more of a "power fantasy", which I think I'll need to get all the way through Elden Ring and DLC without losing interest.

I'm having a good time with it so far. I only played ER at release and forgot so much of it, but there's still a significant number of changes I see that make a replay feel fresh and give it a new game feel.

That looks really cool. Thanks for posting it. Think I might fire that up for my next run. Still haven't even done the DLC yet. Let us know how it pans out.

I really need to get into romhacks/mods. Too bad I've got nowhere to fit in something like that considering all the major classic legit games I still haven't checked out.

Elden Ring: Convergence looks pretty damn good. Wasn't there another major one, Garden of Eyes or something like that?

FF Tactics has the Souls of Destiny romhack, and there are some insane Super Metroid hacks out now like Hyper Metroid, Metroid X Fusion, and Metroid Rogue Dawn. IIRC there are a bunch of A Link to the Past romhacks that are super well-done as well. Maybe mods/romhacks should be its own thread on here?

Yeah idk about Convergence specifically but a lot of modded games work via dll injection or similar, which diverts the programs execution flow to run different code. Even Skyrim uses skyrim script extender. Usually modding forums are full of people reporting false positives.

The other one is Reforged. It's really popular but changes the game less so i went with Convergence.

I really don't understand anybody who buys a console nowadays other than if they have kids. PC has always been the master race.
Sure, in hindsight it would have been smart, but playing the first time on a 75" 4k screen was amazing, so at least there's that!

Didn’t really like convergence, it felt cheezy.

this mod however adds insane quality and sekiro like combat. You can kind of ignore with certain builds but if you lab a little bit it is satisfying as fuck. Awesome tutorial at the start as well.
I would say even on easy you have to use the new mechanics or you will die, reforged is the base difficulty and anything above that is straight fuck you. Has built in co-op modes as well. Very cool, very worth your time.

It's best to wait for reviews on the Switch 2 version. It was supposed to be out by now but got pushed back due to performance issues.
Fuck nintendo, they could do so much cool shit, instead they do this and the same Mario/Mario cart games over and over...and over.

$80... Lmao

$80 to play something you can get for $30 new on PS5 and have it run probably significantly better.

While I too am on the "fuck Nintendo" train, I have a bunch of things I want to play on their Switch Online Expansion Pass (I completely missed the N64 era and most of the GBA era, plus there are some other things too). Is there a way to pay monthly on the expansion pack or is a $50 one-year sub seriously the only way to get it?

Regular Switch Online lets you pay monthly. I just want it for 2-3 months, but half the things I want to play are in the Expansion Pass, and it is only giving me the option to get it for a year. That kinda sucks. Am I missing something here?

Still would really like a one month option. Hell a 3 month option would be great. WTF Nintendo?

Honestly if GBA and 64 is your reasoning, just grab an emulator, they are so good these days and basically install and run on most setups.
