Neither we nor the devs know yet.

How are raids going to work? I don't see a tank going in, holding aggro, while casters cast essentials spells like slows and debuffs, dps strategically unload, and healers fight to keep you alive.

What I see is everyone running in and using AoE spin attacks while making a big hole in the ground. (joke for the most part)

Do we have any comments on how they feel raid and group encounters will work? I've read a few holy trinity comments but with all the variations in classes, it sounds like GW2 meets Rift which had its own issues.

Ok, after watching that video, it basically sounds like the class system is exactly like The Secret World. You unlock a class, you can mix and match abilities. So basically there will end up being a few good dps builds, tank builds, and healer builds. If you don't have one of those, get fucked.

Except from the sounds of it, you may not be able to get all the classes unlocked on a single character. So you may end up gimped just because you didn't know that Necro ability 031 was going to be required for your dps build, because you went with the Magician class where you're a good aligned character.
Simple solution seems to be making specific tanks better at dealing with specific types of damage. Every tank is pretty good overall, but each has their own strengths. So it's optimal to change per encounter, but not really necessary.

Other than that, the claases just have to be pretty well-balanced.

I hope we get good old fashion mob summoning, no running away, you have to own up to your dumb ass mistakes and take an ass whipping like a man.

summoning is lame as hell. I despise that shit in just general moment to moment play in EQ. Can't move the mob because he's fucking summoning me every tick. It's fucking terrible for fight design.

A hundred times this...

I can kinda sorta see someone choosing TANK.. and along the way learning the ability to HoT, Shield Bash interrupt, harmtouch, lay hands, and through skills learned leveling up decide how much of a pure tank they want to be. Or.. maybe lean toward a SK or a Paladin style of tank. That would be kinda cool. But ya.. there really needs to be some kind of class based approach. You take out interdependence and suddenly I just do not see how much like EQ you are playing. I personally do not care for the Disney animations or the Lion King wearing armor (god that was hard to see) but I can do my best to look over it. The double jump bs made me throw up in my mouth a little but I can buy a bunch of pepsid if need be, but the more we lean away from interdependence the further away from what made a lot of good EQ groups fun. I remember turning down Ronaneb for groups on E'ci because he sucked ass as an enchanter (bastage would not mez because 'that makes the mobs mad at me').. just would hate to lose that.
yeah, i agree. without specific classes, you lose dependency. and without that, it's not really EQ. i just see it like GW2. sounds like a good idea, until you see it implemented.

Also, the next poll needs to be: "Do you prefer the oriental hulk we have now or traditional fatties for Ogres?" Bring back fat ogres. I'm going to start a movement.
I prefer the fatties. Really excited and looking forward to EQNext. But it fails EQ1. Someday, someone will recreate the EQ1 experience and the WoWtards will never understand when it is so extremely successful. EQ1 / Darksouls is the game the genre really needs.

Who needs to run, just make a hole in the ground and disappear into the "phase".

You can easily have roles with this system, why would you retards think that means it's suddenly GW2? TSW was VERY RIGID heals/dps/tank and it was as freeform as you can get. GW2 lacking roles was a stylistic choice (a dumb one), but having the ability to change classes doesn't mean there can't be tanks or healers.

They've said the Holy Trinity is still going to exist. There really hasn't been too many more details, though.

Additionally, they've said content is scaled by player numbers. You won't ever be alevel 100 warrior that can just annihilate everything by yourself. You may be able to use multi-classing by optimizing your abilities to overcome challenges, but some content with just require more people.

Someday, someone will recreate the EQ1 experience and the WoWtards will never understand when it is so extremely successful. EQ1 / Darksouls is the game the genre really needs.
The only way any EQ will ever be relatively successful to the WoW clones is to convince their players to defect, so they'd de facto understand why it's good.

Not confirmed, that's my assumption based on them removing stats from the displayed armor. They want to avoid being pay-to-win, so the easiest way to charge for cosmetic items is to make all displayed armor cosmetic.
I was just reading through Tad's write up on EQN Junkies and he noted that armor will have special abilities tied to it. Makes sense considering the hover boots or whatever was in that parkour segment.

that might happen, they've said there may be guns in this iteration of EQ
I want FFTactics' magic guns. Not bullet guns like in WoW. These guns shoot magic. Not magical bullets, magical spells. They're like staffs with a trigger and a holster. Awesome!! Quickdraw, and I shoot a gigantic ice comet at you. Best class ever.

i really hope you're right, but i'm betting it's going to be more like GW2.

Combine dates it to after Rallos Zek invaded the planes of power, after Green Mist wiped out the Shissar on Kunark, and after the gods cursed the giants, trolls, ogres, and goblin for siding with Zek.

Antonica is name given to the continent well after the fall of the Combine empire. Name change was made to honor the founder Qeynos Antonius Bayle I. Before that it was called Tunaria.

That teleporter in Feerrott is of Shissar origin. The combine do remaster the knowledge of how to use them. Then knowledge is lost again with fall of the Combine and then rediscovered again by Al Kabor in original EQ.
I'm glad we have you giant nerds to fill in the EQ knowledge. I don't remember even a portion of it, but find it interesting.

From them saying that the game knows what you have done, it sounds like you will need a certain level of faction with different groups to get the different classes. It just makes you wonder how you can increase or decrease faction. Will it be purely quest base or will you be able to gain it by killing creatures. Most likely it will be a combination of both.

If you gotta go places to find a specific piece of armor with a specific ability to improve your character that would be cool.

Heh good point. But the WoWtards I was talking about are the minority who defend the game no matter what crap it shoots down the glory hole. Most people who play WoW just do so because the rest of the herd is there. I don't consider them to be WoWtards, just average people. WoWtards defend the game like it is a religion.
