I think every idea and concept has already been hashed out and i'm sure after August 2nd we'll probably revisit them a million more times but what time frame is everyone really anticipating in terms of beta and release?

I've head everything from this Christmas, EQ's anniversary, all the way until 2015.

What I would like to see would be some beta keys given out a Fan Faire with beta beginning in the late fall. Beta would go through early 2014 and release being on the EQ original release date. However, i'm a big fan of the Q4 release window as I have more free time. I think this Christmas is pretty well impossible and out of the question. I wouldn't want to compete with all the console hype anyway.

The thought of it being available on ps4 makes me think it will probably be totally dumbed down for console tards anyway. It'll probably be like Dragon Age 2. "Press a button and something awesome happens." There will be a whole bunch of buttons, and all kinds of awesome stuff happens. Forests are engulfed in fire and need to be regrown. Invasions are thwarted with massive fireballs, etc. And there will be no inventory to keep things "streamlined". And everyone under the age of 15 will think its teh orsumest thing evor.

Ever played TERA with a controller? It's fucken awesome. So your assumptions are incorrect as TERA is an example of an MMO that can be played with a controller.

It can be played with a controller because every fight can be won with 4 buttons. 99% of console players are totally hopeless, so the game will have to be dumbed down to the lowest common denominator, and that's the army of 10 year old ps4 dude bros.

They will have no keyboards, so it will be screaming in your ears over voice coms, and they have no skill so it will be everything drops dead after you press X circle square. That's EQ Next.

LOL. Shamefully inaccurate and a pretty stupid statement. Try the game at 60 in hard modes. There aren't 15 year old's beating Manaya's Core HM, or COF, I can tell you that.

Once again you are simply making things up. TERA is praised for it's combat universally. You also can use 12 different skills by simply holding the RB or LB and press A B X Y. Or is 12 button rotation still not l33t enough for you? You clearly have no experience. Seriously do you believe what you post?

Not really. There were 8 hotkeys and I used them all in a good battle. And in a really good battle I would sometimes need to sit and swap a few out, mid fight.

The combat seemed pretty good, but everything else was so bad it made it not worth it. I'm sure combat could be good with a gamepad, I just don't think it will be.

Yes any real discussion is pointless right now - since it is only a little over a month to the reveal.


There is no way it comes out this year given the hiring by StoryBricks and SOE. I think the earliest is the March 16th weekend but more likely Q3 or Q4 2014. I'd expect a big presence at E3 2014 with it on the PS4. World's only next gen MMO blah blah blah.

If it does come out March 16th expect a lot of missing "we'll be adding to it soon" content such as raids, guild housing and etc.

@qwerty any new MMO will be out for the console. Some shit you just got to deal with and move on.

No. You could say the same for none MMO's, and yet there are still really good PC exclusives coming out regularly. If I have to wait another few years for an MMO like that, so be it. EQ Next would have to be totally exceptional for me to play it. I can live with the voice coms, golden paths leading idiot players by the nose, etc.. but it has to have a hook at some point and some challenge, otherwise it's just not worth it for me.

See this is where I think you guys go overboard and take what these "neck beards" as you call them out of context.

I think he understands we don't have 12 hours a day to play. That's all fine and good. But just because you don't have 12 hours to play doesn't mean the game should get easier for you so you can still be on the bleeding edge. You have to accept that the game doesn't revolve around you and your playtime.

That's what modern games have become. The world caters to the player. They want a world that caters to itself and you are just one person in it. If you can't spend 12 hours a day, you just can't keep up with the kids who can. You won't be on the bleeding edge. You can still progress, it just won't be as fast as the person who can dedicate more time to it. But that's the rub. You want a hardcore game that caters to you and well you can't really have both.
