Time will tell. I only care if the game is fun. History and DBG in the picture doesn't give a lot of confidence, but never know. Given history of gaming for a while now, I rarely buy blind, either waiting to try myself for free first, or trusted reviews/streams(aka not paid sponsors or hype people). This is already off to a bad start for me because its an entirely different sub separate from their all access, so mostly likely wont bother, unless it turns out to be some super amazing thing, that putting a couple weeks into is worth it.

I have zero care about the personal lives of the developers involved.

I don't know if you played THJ when it was out. There is going to be a huge swath of people that didn't and this will be there first go with a server like this. It can be worse then THJ and still be an anazing hit, and popular with everyone who didn't play the OG.

They really neeed to make the barrier to getting on this server as low as possible. Surely, someone in that comapny realizes this is a way monetize your customer base after the normal TLP burnout that happens around POP/LDON.

I'm with you. I'll play if it's fun. They better have those god damn vendor bags though. I'm never going back to manually selling my shit again.

In first video they had the advanced loot window and one of the options was to vendor the drop so that atleast is nice.

You're not wrong there will be a lot of people who didn't play THJ that will play it because it's posted on Everquest's page so you'll have all the greasy kronolords looking for ways to make money on it.

You have people whining that krono's should be on it in the discord, and people looking for more shit to spend RL money on. The discord really is an eye into MMO players. On the WoW side you have people that get pissed off about the 1 button rotation option, on the Everquest side you have people whining about autoskill and how they shouldn't have to hit kick, bash, or any other skill.

But I admit I'll play it to see what it's like. But I also know it's probably gonna be shit. But I'm used to playing with Shit. I play retail WoW. I've just come to accept I'm kinda like a monkey I roll my shit in balls throw it around playing with it and then get mad when I realize I have shit on my hands. These are not the traits of a man that thinks logically these are traits of a retard and I accept this.

But I also believe you should try something to have knowledge about it to bitch about it properly.

Excellent summary, really. But I have to admit that Daybreak does not regularize or policy the way you play your MMO that much compared to New-Blizzard. Idk if you guys saw what they did with TBC classic "you play an mmo the way we like and no you can not take gold to level anyone or have loot lotteries in raid for gold" among other stupid ideas. If I pay a sub for a mmo I like to play the way I like if I do not disrupt the service for others.

And yes, let's see what it's like. I hope beta testers will spill the beans because box price+sub is a hefty testing fee otherwise.

Looks like you need 2^10 base level items to make a +10? If you're getting only +4 drops then you'd still need something like 64 combines?

If all it does is add +1 to each stat per level that's excruciatingly boring design.

At least one of the drops was already a +4 when it was looted from the mob. If you run the highest difficulty zones and get all +4 item drops, you would technically only need 16 drops to get to the full 64. Still a grind, but I would look at it as there is incentive to run the harder zones. (Or, for the noobs, you can stick to the easy zones but you have to grind for a lot longer as you point out).

Near the end of the video there are some frames with his bracer and robe stats showing which appears to confrim that +X level adds +X to each stat in the line.

It also adds some +void resist and some slots to put effects into which appear to have been converted to augments rather than a property of the item.

They better be fundamentally changing how stats interact with combat.

It's a convoluted mess of mechanics and throwing shit against the wall hoping it sticks. It's got the multi-class power fantasy, but they still expect you to endlessly grind 3+ seperate times to to achieve that. It's got the powerful items, but have fun running Naggy at max difficulty for 3 months straight before you get your +10 CoF.

What made THJ fun and enjoyable was the fundamental concept of "we respect your time, and want you to have fun". While this servers main philosophy seems to be "fuck you and fuck your time. Now give us your money, nerd".

So far everything shown has completely missed the mark of what made THJ fun and instead is exactly what drove the majority of people from Everquest over the past 20 years.

It's trying too hard to grab you by the balls and twist them into submission to force you to engage with it for hours upon hours to achieve results, while completing missing the audience that just wants to log in for an hour or two here or there and still get end game loot.

The sweaty tryhard will still play 40+ hours a week to get their 17th +10 CoF when everyone can get one. The dad gamer will nope the fuck out when he realizes he can only ever get +4 with his play schedule.

Unless they do something spectacular to capture the casual crowd, this game is gonna fizzle out by the end of the year.

I'm sure every grind will be able to shortened with a good old swipe of the credit card somehow.

The more I read I've gone from "hell yeah" to "I'll probably give it a look" to "I think I'll just watch the shit show by reading about it here".

The item empowering system is interesting, but it still has the same problem that all these "solved" games have. Are you really going to spend enough time in Kurn's to make your Iksar Berserker Club +8 better than your Cane of the Tranquil +2 you can get immediately upon moving on to a higher level zone? THJ had all sorts of items you could get and level, but in the end you were in the end game in like 10 hours of play and everything you got until then was worthless outside of niche pet proc weapons and such.

The interesting thing was the slots underneath the item. Focus and empowerment etc. Maybe you can smash items into their essence and implant them on other items making it worthwhile to get an ac/dex +10 bandit ring into an ac/dex modifier for your gear later or something. It looks like they're trying to make it complicated, which honestly is good, because THJ was fun but the burn out was near immediate. Your brand new character was on daily raid chores near immediately and you were at the will of the drops whether you were going to have something else to do or not between raid cooldowns. And if you were lucky it was just mindlessly grinding exp for item evolutions pretty quickly.

If they can make this system so lower items can "last" SOMEHOW, I think that would be cool, but it just looks like another slightly wider stepping stone type item system you'll just blast past in a matter of hours.

Only needs 16 Cloak of flames to fully upgrade it! Remember they're also designing raids to be small group rather than solo. Perfect system for the Black Market RMT 6 boxers.

EQ Legends = Chainbreaker 3 + TLP Kronolords + Daybreaks lawyer trying to add as many scam system as possible.

He's level 48 in the video. Killing a level 13 mob in the same amount of time it took to clear a raid trash mob on THJ, clearly they respect your time.
