Gear and AAs do make a large difference though.I made a Pal/Mnk/Shm trio last night just to gauge the difference between my previous trio. Using a +5 Skarlon sword, planar armor and the 100 AAs I had, I made 20 levels in a sitting and was killing pulls of 4 deep reds (wans and zols, about 10 levels above me) at once in lguk at level 27 including very easily clearing the frenzied room using lulls. I was occassionally one-rounding low yellows in my teens even without Nife procs. I obviously won't be able to make a fair comparisson until 50 but it's clearly much stronger than my previous trio. People hit the AC cap in their 20s wearing Befallen leather + bronze and the Befallen 2h is really good so the gear isn't going to make as much of a difference as one might think.
Paladins get a undead proc buff called Instrument of Nife at level 15 on here. Normally this is a level 30 spell on TAKP, or 26 on TLPs but it's level 15 here, which is rather insane. The proc damage is 193 before motes. It doesn't even need to scale with level before hitting for max likes it does elsewhere. This is more damage than wizard nukes at this level. Level 15 mobs have roughly 400-450 hitpoints, less for casters, so when it crit this proc was one-shotting full HP white mobs even before I put motes in. I later made it rank 6 which hits for 256. With my crit AAs it hits for 768 on crits. Since shamans get dex buffs it's procing all the time. The first real undead nuke paladins get is Expulse Undead at level 30 and it does 106 damage which is kind of comical considering.
The "just play what you want" philosophy is something I normally subscribe to but when the gap is this large I'm just going to roll Paladin on launch.
