There is one true big dawg when it comes to the home brewed hax. Not some copy paster wannabe like Tyen or spreader of another man's work like Jupe.

Seek out "Dr. Gotcha". I've seen him break Marvel Rivals (mentioned first ofc) and Pantheon dev teams balls many times over. When Visionary Realms banned him, he got into their shit and literally unbanned himself. I wish I was making up a Sox story here. In all my years I've never seen one as good as him.

That being said, cheating at video games should result in damage to a business civil liability. I fucken hate cheatin clowns. Back in the arcade days the gang woulda thrown someone like that out themselves with the blessing of obese long haired coin dispenser man.
Reminds me of a guy in the Quake 3 hacking scene called Nopbot who would constantly make the aimbot after patches.

Also, what are the chances Secrets ported over their code to catch Macroquest?

Well this seems newsworthy. No more macroquest on live/test?

If people want to bot, bots will be made.

Writing bot software is pretty fun. Maintaining it is less fun, but i think it'll survive.

I don't use MQ2 because it looks boring to play EQ with it , but a lot of people love it.

If mq2 botting survives and all the other shit dies, that might sate a lot of live players that dont actually care if they cant warp but dont want to manually manage their whole dude army.

My sense is the 2 sites eelling mq for 10 a month and associated stuff are going to find a way. Redguides sells 50 dollar plug-ins as well yearly. I'm sure theyre full time job is redguides, they'll find a way to get it done. Might be shittier if you know what I mean, but they'll get some kind of working product.

So, the thought occurred to me how this whole macroquest thing is gonna playout/payout. Redguides guys have the people to do it but obviously they want more money, so MQ will go down maybe for a month or 3, let everyone sweat for awhile, then they'll come in and save the day but hey $10 a month ain't cutting it, 20 or 30 a month will be the new price.

Less than a week after the patch hit test, the new team got up to speed and got it working...

It's a bit hypocritical of me, who uses ISBoxer, to say this, but I hope DPG keeps breaking MQ and it stops being used, along with any other botting software. I don't begrudge or even mind players who actively play with MQ, I just don't like unattended bots littering up the game.

MQ2 easily bought me a year's worth of fun playing EQ like a CRPG

I never grief anyone with it to my knowledge mostly played by myself in empty zones or maybe 1 other group in zone at different camps

Ive gotten a sense by statements made by the ex-devs that their reasoning was beyond just dbg making it more difficult to RE and convos may have happened behind the scenes that led them to pull the plug. I was able to get it working in like 3 days, and Im an absolute amateur in comparison.

If the RG test build matches up with the state of the new devs githubs repos, then they did a half ass job of fixing the structs dbg started scrambling. They can get away with doing that, so long as a majority of the key portions are correct, but it doesnt give me hope for them accurately maintaining it long term.

Managed to get live MQ compiled. Its a pain in the ass to get to get it working, but I'm sure others will build out tools to overcome the hurdles. No way Id ever go through the process every patch.

Theres also definitely some new detection implemented. I'm 50-50 on whether it'll be bypassed at this point.

How do you know there's a new detection implemented? Does it block or notify you?

I kind of just assumed they could easily detect MQ usage and sometimes acted on that, but always knew. There are just so many ways to embed detections to see if your memory and binaries are being futzed with, but we are talking about developers making the bottom 2% of salaries in the area,

Diffing the binaries then reviewing new code thats been added over the past couple of months. Theres no block or notification for an extremely baseline build.

I dont want to say too much because I know my earlier comments have been posted to redguides and I'm not trying to give them a roadmap. The changes do make me think they were relying mainly on heuristics for detection or just users exposing themselves out of idiocy.

So I've been paying for the red guides sub and was using it to work on boxxing and stuff last month before all the recent drama with MQ. Fuck ton of people seem to have been banned this month, anecdotally I can walk around in POK on FV and the usual mass of people afk in front of the guild hall is gone. Not sure what that actually equates to but seems like a shit ton of people got banned.

Think I'm just gonna stick with ISboxer for the new TLP.

live servers that aren't TLP seems like a weird place to ban MQers. Seems like free money that doesnt really impact anyone since there's such a limited amount of people on those servers.

Theres a handful of staff that play in one of the top tier guilds, so it gives them a bit more motive to knock others down a peg when launch time comes around.

If that were true the live game would be better and not suffering from the myriad loot issues driving people away.

Odd to think there would be any correlation between the two. There's like 27 years of history that disagree with that theoru. Throughout the eq's history there have been developer's who played the game like addicts. Early developers and cs staff, who later became developers, were quite literally recruited from top guilds.

Those people being on the team didnt prevent some of the pivotal development mishaps in eq's timeline from being released which ultimately sent portions of the population packing to never return.

And lets be real here. Being in a top guild as a dev doesnt indicate they are actually good at the game, developing/designing, or in most cases all of the above. Those guilds gladly give them a spot just due to their access.

It also sounds potentially made up considering a banwave will catch a large # of TLP poopsocker guildies too
The thing that makes it sound made up is the idea that EQ employees actually play EQ.
