Easy. It came out at a time when the CRPG genre was on a steep decline. There hadn't been many good CRPGs made in previous 9 years when it was released in 2009. Baldur's Gate 2, their previous title, is hands down one of the very finest CRPGs ever created. One that stands out even today.
