I have a 120" laser projector setup I'd watch it on. I'd prefer Dolby Cinema AMC but yeah. Might still catch it there.

Hey, it was only like $3000ish! Which was $2500 too much for my wife.

Saw this in a packed theater tonight August 9th. We actually had to drive a bit from the house to find a theater that had decent seats left. This movie released June 27th. I’d say it’s doing alright…

Anyway, definitely worth the price of admission. Best theater movie released since Maverick.

Movie has grossed 500m so far. It's Pitt's top grossing film of his career.

Really hard to imagine he hasn't had a higher grossing movie. Then again, he doesn't make lame super hero trash.
I was surprised when I read it. Turns out Oceans 11 was his highest grossing film before F-1.

It's such an ensemble movie, I don't know if calling it a Brad Pitt film is valid. It's like calling Ballerina a Keanu Reeves film.

allegedly $300m budget which is nuts but apparently they filmed at multiple F1 events including silverstone to get the crowds and real road conditions

i guess Apple TV+ doesn't give a fuck thats like 5 mins of selling iphones for them

Top 3 racing movies

Rush w/ Thor
Ford v Ferrari
?

Senna, Days of Thunder, Talledega Nights, Gran Turismo (yes its pretty good!), Grand Prix, Le Mans, not sure what else i'd put in the list. I haven't watched last years Ferrari, heard it kinda sucked
You completely missed every fast and furious movie…

Pitt mostly puts in great performances in excellent movies that don't pander to lowest common denominator audiences. Its surprising and unsurprising.

On advice from the bros here we saw this over the weekend. 1st movie in a theater since Top Gun Maverick. I went in planning to ignore the female engineer, the black partner, etc and not have high hopes for some epic level story. Enjoyed the movie for what it was. Looked and sounded great on the big screen. Brad Pitt was Brad Pitt. The ending went a little different direction from the way I thought it would go which was refreshing. Its a different film than Rush (which I really like) but just as enjoyable. 8/10

I was expecting Brad to sacrifice the win to give the kid the glory and was surprised when it went the opposite way. The kid telling him afterwards that he had plenty of time to get his wins and this one was Pitts showed the kid head learned something and matured.
Just watched this. Enjoyed it well enough on the home screen. I was never bored, and after the first 10 minutes the diversity stuff didn't bother me.

The biggest surprise, also pretty early on, was when I noticed that they got all the actual F1 people in the movie. But then, I saw Lewis Hamilton as a producer or something in the opening credits, and I figure they probably just did it using the same resources as the Drive to Survive stuff.

I was a bit confused by Pitt's character though. He talks like he was the next upcoming Schumacher, but never even made a podium? Seems kind of strange. They made a quip about being a "never was" and that sounds exactly like what he was. There are plenty of drivers who come into F1 and never amount to anything despite looking like they have talent. If Pitt's character had been a Verstappen type character who flamed out the same way as the movie after a single season it would've made more sense. Otherwise, yeah, I was a bit surprised by the ending. Oddly, there were two other scenes (the wet race, and the poker game) that felt either super telegraphed or I just called them out really easily, but the ending swerve was surprising.

Anyway, I bet Pitt had a fucking blast filming this. And it really makes me want to pick Drive to Survive back up. I think I quit during the '20 or '21 season.

Watched it tonight with my wife. She said it was 'alright' but I really liked it. Most of the stuff would get you kicked out of real F1 but whatever it's a movie. 8/10.
IMDB Trivia said Pitt was driving a F2 with an electric engine for some scenes and that he made $30 Million for this pic, his biggest payday ever. Add that this is a Plan B movie and he really made bank.

This is something like the original Avatar. It’s fine. But god damn it was a super great theater experience on a giant imax screen. I posted in another thread it was one of my fav movies of the year but I doubt it would have made it only watching it at home

the racing bits made it worth it so if that doesn’t translate to the small screen idk how much there is to get out of it

This was an F1 commercial lol

As someone who enjoys watching F1 every now and then I didn't mind it. The cinematography is fantastic on the but...

the story was Zzzzzzzzz. Safe and all about portraying F1 in a positive light... They should've had a proper rival antagonist team FFS.

Instead it was a battle... Inside themselves...

Boooo

Yeah, same feelings here. Fun movie. But very much 6.5/10.

As someone who has been to the USGP 12 of the last 14 years or something.

The movie seems like the script was made by committee and every single stupid Hollywood sports trope had to be in it. There's basically very little relation to anything going on in F1 in this movie, F1 is basically a backdrop for a sports movie.

The visuals were great, story was hackneyed and predictable. Basically like every Hollywood movie.
