That's annoying. Oh well. Thanks.

Hopefully there's an option to shut that stuff off at some point.

I dont really understand how the crit meter works, but the sprint is suppose to be similar to skyrim using the endurance/action bar to fuel it and VATS.

Also gotta say the Goodsprings photos are awesome!
thanks!

Crit meter fills up as you fight stuff, and when it's full you can get a guaranteed crit in VATS. Luck makes it fill faster, plus has perks to sometimes make it fill instantly.

Gamefaqs is dying but usually has gameplay focused discussion. .
Gamefaqs used to be the shit :/ And if you're really old you might remember Avault and the old (92-95) Origin BBS which made FoH look tame. Thems were the days.

So I'm not a fan of gore in video games... or really media at all. I can handle it, but I just always find it a bit lame.

I never played the most recent Fallout games, and I'm wondering how energy weapons behave. If I stick to energy weapons will enemies just get 'disintegrated', or will I still see their limbs fly off and shit? Will bloody mess add guts to energy weapon kills, or just more pewpew sparklies? Thanks
I don't think EW would dismember. It was either a pile of ash or green goo depending on laser vs. plasma.

The dismemberment mechanic has been in since Fallout 1 and it has never made sense and that's why its great.

WTF is wrong with you people? Given the chance you'd gut everything that make fallout unique. VATS, random dismemberment, Karma? What's next? Remove Super Mutants because large green mutants is unrealistic? Remove ghouls because radiation can't make you live forever?

SMGs would crit in Fallout 1 and 2 and rip a body to pieces.

If you don't like gore in video games, this is not the game for you. Skip it.

I look at it this way, you don't like something there will probably be a mod to remove/tweak it.

Unless you bought it on a console and then just suck it up buttercup because you were stupid.

Pretty much.

I just don't get how people don't get Fallout is not meant to be realistic. It is supposed to be over the top, the gore is supposed to be unrealistic and exaggerated, basically every aspect of the universe is like thatfor a reasonand complaining about how its too gory or too unrealistic in its portrayal of gore is basically saying "I don't like Fallout". If you don't like it, don't play it.

The universe is constructed the way it is constructedon purpose.

Leaked gameplay video. Yes, it's on Pornhub... probably trying to hide from the DMCA, I've watched through it and it's not a joke though I would term it NSFW because of all the pornhub links/pics all over the page.

The perk list is basically complete:
Fallout 4 perks - The Fallout wiki - Fallout: New Vegas and more - Wikia

I don't know how they completed it though, since I imagine there's no way to cheat up your perks on console versions?

I don't really know how crits work but I'm a little dubious about it. I'm hoping it's not some meter that fills up and in order to utilize the resource I have to enter VATS and manually trigger the crit. With all the +crit perks and stats I imagine the meter will fill up very frequently and that system sounds like a hassle.

Lone wanderer level 3: When adventuring without a companion, you take 50% less damage and carry weight increases by 200

I'm glad that they have this to balance out people who generally don't like having companions. 50% less damage is huge but if your playstyle takes a lot of damage your companion would take some 50% of it anyway.

Agi 9 Blitz: 1 AGI 9 Find the gap and make the tackle! V.A.T.S. melee distance is increased significantly. 00000000
2 AGI 9, LVL 29 V.A.T.S. melee distance is increased even more, and the farther the Blitz distance, the greater the damage.

I'm hoping that blitz distance is large (~20 meters). Really, after Mass Effect 3 every scifi shooter with melee should have charge / nova like the vanguard.

So enlighten me. What about over the top, silly gore is critical to the game? How would adding a simple toggle betray the experience to a degree that I may as well not even play it? Even if I like every single other system?

Quaid, the entire setting is designed specifically to be an over the top presentation based in 50s Cold War era paranoia about nuclear warfare. Over the top gore, radiation = magic, robots based on 50s movies, etc. are all part and parcel of the experience. If you want to gut the experience then there is no point in playing the game at all. Its not made for you. If fake over the top gore triggers you, you don't need the rest of the planet to censor the content for you.

Just skip the game.

This is a series where at one time you could vaporize children ffs

People punching people in the heads and their arms falling off in Fallout 1 and 2

Over the top gore is a staple of the series going back to the original games.

Here's the Fallout Vision Statement, the concept document originally written by Chris Taylor at Interplay about Fallout 1

Notice thevery first item on the list

Mega levels of violence. (you had better give us that Mature rating right now)
You can shoot everything in this game: people, animals, buildings and walls. You can make "called shots" on people, so you can aim for their eyes or their groin. Called shots can do more damage, knock the target unconscious or have other effects. When people die, they don't just die - they get cut in half, they melt into a pile of goo, explode like a blood sausage, or several different ways - depending on the weapon you use. When I use my rocket launcher on some poor defenseless townsperson, he'll know (and his neighbors will be cleaning up the blood for weeks!)
***This is the wasteland. Life is cheap and violence is all that there is. We are going to grab the player's guts and remind him of this.***[2]

There is often no right solution. Like it or not, the player will not be able to make everyone live happily ever after.

There will always be multiple solutions. No one style of play will be perfect.

The players actions affect the world.

There is a sense of urgency.

It's open ended.

The player will have a goal.

The player has control of his actions.

Simple Interface.

Speech will be lip-synched with the animation.

A wide variety of weapons and actions.

Detailed character creation rules.

Just enough GURPS material to make the GURPSers happy. The game comes first.[3]

The Team is Motivated The team is motivated (Tim has incriminating documents on all of us)

This is extremely important. Team GURPS is excited to be making this game. Everyone on the team is happy with what they are doing. We want to do this. We care about this game and we will make it cool.[2]
Fallout vision statement - The Fallout wiki - Fallout: New Vegas and more - Wikia

So yes, extreme violence is a staple, a core part of the Fallout franchise from the very first moments of its invention. If it bothers you, this is not the series for you.
