n addition to extending the Howard Hughes / Robert House simile (Hughes also used a body double), this will likely set up the show's next "Actually, whatever you chose didn't matter" retcon of the games: it was always fake House in the pod, that you may or may not kill in your playthrough. Fake House always dies, regardless of your choices, in the show timeline (either by your hand or in whatever ruins New Vegas between the game and the show

This is actually a pretty elegant solution that allows them to mesh the show and game. Since the show has already introduced robobrain technology, the real House could be a well hidden brain and the House body we see in NV is just his ghoulified brother used as a decoy to throw off enemies

The real benefit is it remains in the public consciousness much longer.

It’s like time gating in a MMO: sure having everything all available is great in the moment, but then you poopsock it and complain you’re bored because you’ve exhausted all the content

The “dump it all” streaming thing basically guarantees a show burns bright and then completely peters out after a couple weeks. Everything gets spoiled, turning off potential viewers. And people who did binge are now bored because they used up all the content in a weekend
No, schlomo. The real game here is lubing people up for commercials to be added full on to streaming services, including Prime. That and to obfuscate when the creators dump all the money in the first two episodes so they can keep people watching in the hope that the show stops sucking at some point (Last of Us S2, anything Starwars these days, ect). Guess what happens when a show is good and gets full dumped; it gets more rewatches. Eight fucking episode Seasons do not need to be stretched out to a slow drip feed, especially when they somehow fucking manage to cram in filler (Andor, Strange New Worlds, ect) on top of that shit.

But yeah its them dilating us for cramming more commercials up our ass. Even Prime is doing this with the fucking spots to promote their own shows. IT starts with that and then its pay more to not get commercials, then skipable commercials (we are here), until finally its we need to run ads or else we have to raise prices (spoiler alert: prices get raised anyhow).

In regards to whom Hank is talking to on the phone - I'll assume whomever the Enclave president / leader is now.

The show did introduce the Enclave in season one when Michael Emerson / Wilzig escapes from them with Dogmeat and the cold fusion chip, but I have a hard time imagining the show will be able to swing back to the Enclave thread this season with everything in Vegas to cover.

It does seem repetitive that the last scene in the season would be setting up The Enclave as next season's big bad, (possibly with Hank fleeing, again) but that's what I'm going with.

Can't believe they rushed Novac and no Boone. That was one of the better storylines in the game and definitely the best companion. I was really disappointed to see the girl in his sniper perch.
IF this is after the game, Boone is gone one way or the other. Plus with only an eight episode run (and seemingly a focus on the House arcs) there is only so much time to go around for side arcs.

Enclave had a small base and mostly got their shit pushed in by House, if I recall the game. The young gay doctor guy who was at the Mormon compound (want to say Arcade?) would be the only one potentially still alive.

Yeah I understand. Plus the ghoul is 90 percent of Boone's character anyway. I wonder if they will roll the Ceasars legion backstory into his.

Hank walked into a room marked Global Comms for his radio message, there's no need for it to be a local branch - obviously the Enclave had significant resources in the DC area in the Fallout 3 DLC, for example.

If the show sucks so badly, why would you care if it's drip-fed or dumped all 8 hours at once?

I keep clicking this thread forgetting that the new season has started, and I haven't watched it. Luckily you're all mostly focused on video game shit that I don't remotely remember, so I guess it doesn't matter.

It's probably Mr. House. Hank talks about the person on the other end calculating strategies for survival, the fact he is confident the person is still alive (that would have been from pre-war), and talks about the control devices we see in the cold open of the episode. I'm sure Enclave will factor in at some point, but I don't think he is talking to them

The call also seems to imply that Hank was a corporate spy in Vault Tec, which means his ultimate goals probably align with House if that who he is in fact trying to contact.

Also, the season ahead trailer after the episode seemed to confirm some more BoS stuff: The "Civil War" is East Coast vs. West Coast BOS, but more specifically they refer to them as The Commonwealth. This once again seems to confirm the cannon ending to FO4 is BOS or Minutemen, since Commonwealth BOS isn't possible with the Railroad and Institute endings. Unless they pull a pure mindfuck and the Commonwealth BOS are all synths, but they don't have the balls to do that

The obvious interpretation is that it is House, with the 'old stomping grounds in Vegas' comment...

... except the back half of that sentence is 'where you all left off'. Who would the "all" be in this context? And why would House need to copy someone else's work for tech he either invented or had access to centuries ago? Add in that the obvious answer is probably the wrong one, and this smells like the reddest of herrings.

Assuming you never watched a single trailer, the viewer might not know the guy at the start of the episode was Mr. House because he looks different than the guy in season 1 (who they show in flashback again). So we're working with outside knowledge on who Mr. House is and therefore can connect the technology to him. Assuming you only have the episode to go by and prior season and nothing else:

1) We know Mr. House owns Robco
2) We know the guy at the start is a fan of Mr. House and has control technology we see later in Vault Tec vaults
3) Hank seems very interested in the technology

What I suspect happened is Mr. House leveraged the control technology to Vault Tec in exchange for something. Maybe House couldn't get it to work properly and decided to rely on robots over people, which would fit with what we saw in New Vegas. Vault Tec does the messy R&D on the technology using vault dwellers. Hank mentions in the call that 2 different vaults made two different breakthroughs on the technology, which he plans to further refine. The "you all" probably refers to Robco I suspect rather than Enclave.

Although it wouldn't shock me if Enclave (while the US was still functioning) commissioned/started the project originally since devices that can control humans to do their bidding is 100% in their wheelhouse.

I’ve seen speculation online that the House we see in the bar at the start of the episode is Anthony House, not Robert, because his s personality is more like Anthony and he seems to really like H&H tools

Seems plausible

I'd say that he and his brother both being referred to as "House" without any distinguishing between them seems pretty obvious at this point but a lot of people don't realize it, both in universe and out.
