They'll make the MM be the canon ending. An ascendant institute or brotherhood would force them to reconsider too much of the power balance. The brotherhood can only be a military side quest in the Bethesda mentality like the vaults can only be failed corpo tyranny.

The worst stance to take would be "we don't want to invalidate anyone's ending" because it actually does that exact thing when they have to come up with some convoluted reason why X faction is still around rather than grow a set of balls and just confirm the canon ending

The west coast BoS in the show seems like a bunch of degenerate retards larping as the Brotherhood. It's no wonder they're scared of the east coast faction, they're actually organized and competent/intelligent. So here's an absolutely stupid theory for the show that's actually very plausible due to how dumb writers are sometimes -- the east/west BoS ends up clashing with the west somehow winning this season. Then later the east coast faction comes back but allied with the Enclave. A true kick in the cunt to the lore.

It wasn't a fusion powered car, it looked like it was just a normal gasoline powered one. If it was a nuclear one, it would have had a much bigger explosion like the one at Novac

Episode was kind of boring. I mean I guess the radscorpion fight was cool but the BoS stuff didn't make any sense to me. The pit fight was retarded with Maximus in the middle getting his ass kicked for 10 minutes then overpowering the giant swede at the end to win the fight. Why were they fighting anyway? Just a plot device to make Minimus into a tough guy? Seemed very poorly done.

The show is portraying this sect of the BoS as warriors recruited for warrior duties. These guys are retarded. The grenade fiddling. Blowing up a probably working vehicle. The "mashing". It's obviously going to have Harkness play into the Civilized side of BoS with the Commonwealth and try to pull Maximus to his side when he sees he's surrounded by violent meatheads even if they fight for the cause he personally believes in.

It's all power play shit - the reason the Elder wasn't going to help Maximus get out of it is because the rival sects are a bunch of meatheads also and any show of weakness would erode the Elder's position. Besides, Maximus is only useful to the Elder if he is strong and commands respect. Like he said last season, he wants Maximus to be his sword and a sword isn't useful if it fails as a weapon.
Like Xevy said, these BOS sects are scrapping the bottom of the barrel. in FO:NV, the regional BOS group was a shadow of its former self. The East Coast BOS is closer to what the BOS was during its glory days.
