That actually is a thing in the games, so it would be funny if they actually went there

Part of me secretly hopes that at the end of the season, you find out Yes Man is why things are all fucked up and it was him all along

Loved the last episode. The deathclaw being the first thing to shake Cooper's unflappable personality was great. He probably convinced himself sometime in the last centuries that he dreamed the scene in Anchorage, only to be presented with it again. Last time he froze up and the deathclaw ignored him, I doubt this will be as friendly. I imagine they'll either be rescued by Freeside folks or whoever is holed up in Lucky 38.

They could completely delete the entire plotline inside Vault 31/32/33 and it'd be an improvement. If I had an option to watch a version of the show with that entirely cut, along with the executive aides wandering around, I'd probably watch that.

Given the fact they hinted at FEV being part of phase 2, I think Vault 33 is going to get dosed with FEV. The whole inbreeding group chowing on stuff while the vault slowly dies from a busted water chip is going to factor in. I bet the keepsake box from Hank will have the FEV and Stephanie will give Betty a “fixed” water chip that has FEV in it and mutate Vault 33. The support group will unknowingly consume FEV and start to transform into super mutants, destroying the vault.

I am also suspicious of the cute girl Norm was talking with. Works for Vault Tec for one week and gets chosen? They’re presenting her as innocent but I wouldn’t be shocked if she is the most evil of the bunch or a plant from Enclave or WestTek or something

I think the Deathclaw didn’t attack Coop in the flashback because it was still being controlled by the military/was trained to recognize Americans. It looked like it was blind (pure white eyes) and was smelling Coop, so it was probably trying to figure out what it was dealing with. Once it heard gunfire, it took off because Coop gave off nothing sensory wise that said Chinese communist.

Yeah, I assumed the Deathclaw did not kill Coop because he was an American trooper, no reason to expect that immunity to persist.

And yes, it is difficult to see how the Vault 31-33 stuff can possibly tie into the Vegas stuff this season. (Even a cartoonish plotline where Hank has a deadman's switch to get away from Lucy* wouldn't involve Norm.) So therefore they have to be the linkage to the Vault / Enclave stuff we'll get next season**. The show made those vault sets, they might as well get some use out of them.

*Although all the Simulation stuff we've seen in the trailer makes me think that Lucy won't even confront actual Hank, as Hank will have already moved along to the Enclave (or whatever the Season 3 Big Bad ends up being.)

**No one thinks Thaddeus is a ghoul at this point, right? There's an FEV onramp that doesn't kill all the Vaulties, and Norm can travel with the 31ers to an Enclave / Vault-Tec base to get exposition next season.

Thaddeus could be turning into lots of things - the extra mouth on his shoulder makes some people think centaur, but that would be expensive to do long term. The serum dude was in a season trailer, so he might shed more light on what was in the serum. FO76 had mutation serums the Enclave was experimenting with before the Modus AI purged the entire bunker.

Eh, all roads continue to lead to The Enclave as the past and future antagonist (with maybe a one season fakeout with West Tek) . This being 21st century Hollywood, I am sure The Enclave was pissed that the Sino-American War didn't kill all the undesirables (minorities / gays / etc.) and decided to wipe the slate clean themselves. I will say I am glad we are at least getting some revolts by the pre-war peasants in the show given that they should be occurring everywhere by now. Note that the New Plague should have reached its peak long before Coop's kid was born (and thus the timeline of the show), unless we are getting a ton of even-younger Coop next season to set up the New Plague and the eventual FEV.

Gotta admit, not sure where the rest of this season is going - obviously Maximus and Thaddeus get to Vegas and link up with Coop to fight through the Deathclaws to get to the Vegas Vault-Tec HQ?, Vault 33 having their mini-revolt, and Lucy wandering around said Vault-Tec HQ (both in Simulation mode and in real-life in the yellow dress), but that's not three episodes worth of material. Edit: And someone meets the non-human voice from the early trailer, though the first full look at a Super Mutant could be their closing shot for the season.

All male and female (Lily, Tabitha) super mutants canonically look the same, unless there's some Fallout 76 hell I'm unaware of.

FO76 doesn’t make distinction in super mutants either

This episode is a perfect example of why people who cry about “lore breaking” and “character assassination” should just be patient until the season airs. People don’t understand the concept of the unreliable narrator - just because someone claimed House was going to start the war doesn’t mean it’s true. I did like that House was awarethere was another player that would start the war but didn’t know who they are. Game players will immediately know it’s The Enclave, but non-gamers won’t know that yet. The preview for next week seems to suggest Barb might know, though

Fallout New Vegas is arguably the greatest RPG ever. It was peak Obsidian. You owe it to yourself to play it. Should be able to get it for the cheap now. Graphics are not the greatest, they weren't when it came out but the story is chef's kiss.

There is a rumor that a remake/remaster announcement will happen on the day the season finale ends because there is a count down on one of the official pages that ends on the date the finale airs

This episode actually had really good pacing, which seems unusual for this type of show (the big budget prime time type dramas, versus serials). It seems like so many of these shows just have a limited amount of forward moving story, so they waste a ton of time on useless shit. This was mostly meat and potatoes plot movement.

Also helps that there was no Brotherhood. That shit is a massive drag on the show every time it gets a scene. That actor just can't carry a scene.

Yeah I don't care if the character is supposed to be written like that in some misguided effort to capture the games. The Brotherhood stuff sucked in Season 1 and it sucks in Season 2.

It pretty much just followed Walton's character the entire time, and he's really the only thing that even matters in this whole dogshit production.

Barb being an Enclave plant seems incredibly likely. Hank too.

More than likely - we know House never gets the cold fusion device, but the Enclave did have it by the time we see it in season 1.

I strongly suspect the cryotubes we saw in the episode are a red herring as well - they'll probably be empty and Barb will be at an Enclave facility. House mentions Barb was signing off on all the vaults and the Enclave scientist in s1 knew about Lucy and her vault, which would suggest they were being fed updated information on the vaults. It would also explain why Coop didn't get to go with Barb - The Enclave would have allowed the kid out of pragmatism, but an adult that isn't aligned with them? Barb would have abandoned him because it would at least mean a chance at life vs. certain death by the Enclave.

My #3 suspect for Enclave is Stephanie (even though she is Canadian). If Hank is Enclave, then by extension Stephanie probably is because she specifically requested an item from Hank's quarters (probably FEV vials).

The Claudia girl that is being friendly with Norm could be a plant too. This episode did sell a bit more the "innocent person caught up in a Vault Tec experiment", but she could be a honeypot. Norm does have very good computer skills and the Enclave isn't above recruiting sufficiently pure humans if they have needed skill sets and demonstrate they're on board with everything. Given he has been in a vault this entire time and assuming his dad is Enclave, that could give him an in. I don't think Vault 33 is surviving the season and they'll need to give him a plotline when all that goes to shit. Having him serve as the viewer's eyes in The Enclave could be a possible plotline in s3 if they go there.
