I have a hard on for RS so my team was
Luneth Boost/Thundara Strike
Ingus Mental BD/ Double Cut
Arc Shellga/Curaga
Cecil Reflect / Double Cut
Gilg

I had failed it once before with Maria instead of Cecil, but the hasted boss was just too much for me to S/L til it went down.

In other news, they put out a quest for Mug Time today, but I just got 20 MPO for Full Break R2 so that ability isn't getting crafted any time soon.

i'm fine with that tho, FFVI is my favorite FF. i just wish the FFVI content in FFRK was a bit more challenging. for some reason FFVI encounters are always tuned to be a cakewalk.

Agreed. So far this is the only event where I've been able to beat the 90 and 99 difficulty levels with ease.

I pulled my first ever character 5 star on a 100 gem pull. I got Mog's Holy Lance! I still prefer Yuna as my White Mage but I've got both of Mog's relics right now so it makes him really solid.

when i do FFVI content i've been using mog as a melee that carries protectga/shellga and either the attack or magic boost dance. he doesn't do much damage as a melee but it allows me to stick diaga on my dedicated white mage. lance would be sweet for me, i'm a bit jealous, congrats.

If you haven't logged into this in a minute because you were sick of so much clicking the new ui came out. Haven't had a chance to play with it yet, but very excited about being able to change shit at the dungeon screen.

Yes lots of new stuff. Highlights are:

U/I update today. It's pretty slick and makes things like equipping characters for Realm Synergy a lot easier. You can see how many dungeons are incomplete and not mastered (found that I had missed mastering a random IV dungeon). Note that Orb Conversion is NOT included in the update.

Sephiroth Event tonight. He gets a SSB and MC2 in a few days with the bonus battles.

Rift of Recollection (now known as Vale of Memories) has had the SSB banners translated. They're more rounded than the Japan versions but, in my opinion, that makes them significantly worse. I went from planning 150 Mythril for these banners to, maybe, a single 11X pull. There is only one Hastega Relic on these banners (Golem Flute on Banner 3). Thyrus and Sentinel Grimoire both make an appearance on Banners 1 and 2 respectively. If you don't have Wall than you should try pulling on one, or both, of these banners if you can. They are game changing. No date announced yet but it should be soon.

Christmas themed Orbfest tomorrow night: Not a lot of details are known but it appears to be similar to our last Orbfest. But no clue as to what the dungeons will look like or what banners, if any, there will be. My personal speculation is that we'll get another round of Lucky Draw banners but I have nothing to back that up.

Beginner Banner: Again no timeframe. This is an interesting one. Like the Lucky Draw banners you can only pull once. It still costs 50 Mythril to do a pull. The Relics on the Banner are pretty lackluster. It's important to note that on the Japan version Tyro had Sentinel Grimoire on it but we're getting Healing Tome (which is terribad). However the real draw for this banner is that after you do your single 11x pull for 50 Mythril you get to choose a single character specific relic. There is one relic for each realm. So even though the banner is terrible the freebie relic makes it worth drawing on. It's designed as a catch up mechanic for newer players and it's important to note that it's not time sensitive. Japan has had this banner active for a few months now and it will be around until March 2016 for them. That means that we should have access to it for a long time too so if you're hurting for Mythril you can hold off until you save up. There are a couple of really good choices for your pick: Terra's Enhancer from VI if you need a solid BLM weapon (that only a couple of people can use) and Zidane's Butterfly Sword from IX are the consensus "best" picks. Zidane's sword is the highest neutral attack weapon of the choices and a lot of people need IX synergy. Personally I'll take Lightning's Blazefire Saber since my XIII synergy is the worst. However, standard disclaimer, our picks might differ significantly than Japan.

since i have a Thyrus too, i think i'm going to grab Y'shtola's SB robe from that beginner banner (assuming they left it on there for global)

Thyrus on the first celebration banner is clearly the best, if you have it go for Golem Flute.

Healers Robe on the beginners banner is best if you don't have an AoE heal. Air Knife has a medium sap proc bosses are never immune to, so Bartz can "poison" bosses - FF5 has the first Misfortune fight too and is generally a higher difficulty realm. If you have that go for realm synergy or Luneth's Dismissal proc sword.

Enhancer makes a suboptimal build better, just don't put breakdowns on Terra and use a rod instead!

Love the new UI. Lots of stuff on there that I can't believe we didn't have before.

Also didn't know that you could get five star relics from the free pull. Got Vega 42s this morning so that was a pleasant surprise.

I know Chris thinks otherwise but I'm still of the opinion that Sentinel Grimoire on Tyro is better than Thyrus. Here's why: Y'shtola is a White Mage and cannot really be anything else. Tyro can do everything but his stats suck. However that's fine for a Support character (like Sazh, Wakka, Or Setzer) because all of their stats suck. You bring them for Breakdowns and their SB and not for raw damage output. Tyro can do that just fine and still do respectable damage since he can equip anything. He's also useful why you need really weird ability combinations for Mastery.

Now a lot of people think alike where they have Thyrus so they want to grab her Robe for the group heal. The problem is that both SBs tend to be one or the other. Wall's duration is short enough that it tends to need refreshing as soon as the gauge refills. That doesn't leave a lot of room for the group heal.

With that said Thyrus is, obviously, top tier and should be pulled for if you lack it. I just prefer Sentinel Grimoire since it's much more versatile and I can have access to a group heal without worrying about balancing it with Wall. And for me Yuna is simply my favorite FF character so I tend to use her above all other white mages (thank God I got her Lullaby Rod so I can do this without sacrificing for her).

the odds of pulling a Vega on the daily pull are astronomically low. i'm too lazy to go dig up the data mining from the Reddit wiki, but iirc its something on the order of 1:100,000

in other words, congratulations, you lucky son of a bitch. that's one of the most sought after relics in the game.

But wait! There's more!

Tyro is getting another SB tome. Stormlance Tome on 12/16. No clue on how to obtain it or what it does. The weird thing is that the Tome is unique to Global. Global is also being given a new Samurai ability (Darkmoon) and 5 star accessory (Crystal Orb) as part of a special login bonus before JPN gets them. Stormlance Tome might be part of that daily login bonus too but I'm not sure. Wording of the announcement isn't super clear.

I think this is because I have Wakka's Official Ball, so my support actually does damage. Otherwise fair enough that's pretty good reasoning.

yeah, if i had a Lullaby Rod, i wouldn't grab Y'shtola's robe. tho the Lullaby Rod would be a strange addition now that I have Amarant's SB fists (Shellga + High Regen). that's my only Shellga/Protectga relic, so i've been bringing him along to just about everything lately.

your concern about having enough SB charge to utilize both Stoneskin II and Medica II on Y'shtola is legitimate. tho i usually do end up refreshing Stoneskin II before it wears off. and a lot of the fights that medicas are useful in are fights where mitigation doesn't work as well (i.e. Beatrix, that stupid cannon thing with the missles that cut your HP in a flat 50%, etc.), or where you need to get heals off right away and then set up mitigation.

That makes sense. I've got Sazh with his Vega 42's as my support. Tyro gets his MC2 very soon where Sazh doesn't get his for a long time yet (in fact I don't think he has it on JPN yet). Wakka gets his soon so it makes more sense for you.

My plan is to swap Tyro for Sazh. Right now I am using SG or SSII for my Roaming Warriors. I rarely need more than two casts of Wall even on the hardest fights. But after Tyro gets his MC2 I'll just grab every Boon I can from Roaming Warriors instead.

Again it goes without saying that both Sentinel Grimoire and Thyrus are VERY good and you can't really go wrong with either. It's important to have one or the other but neither is wrong. I just prefer Tyro based on my other relics.
