As far as increasing Stagger bonus, Tifa's triangle moves are one way, but Aerith's one beam/ray ability you get off the weapon from the Train Graveyard increases the Stagger bonus massively I believe. Only issue with it is you need 2 full ATB bars but should be able to set it up without too much trouble.

You can break boxes and hope to get MP restoring mako shards, or you have to use abilities/materia that allow you to restore MP (like Aerith using soul drain). Hardmode is basically new game+, so you carry over your stuff. Leveled up materia is a must.

I'm half way through hard mode, the no MP recovery is brutal. Did the Sector 5 sidequests and had to do the Smogger miniboss and Rude with almost no MP. This is going to be tricky on later chapters, maybe I should level Pray and Chakra.

Don't worry about skipping stuff if you want to see the end. Everything carries over to Chapter Select and you can only get 1 copy of things you can't buy in shops, so no duplicating Elemental Materia - you get 2 and that's it. In fact you need to do full chapter completions in Hard mode to get weapon SP so you can skip doing a lot of quests twice by not doing them the first time.

The hardest battle report is the master all magic one, Revive has the most AP to grind, you'll master the others easily. You unlock Leviathan for doing it but you should already have 4 summons anyway. The NPC moves to the Shinra building so you can complete it past the point of no return.

Just did this on Hard mode.

Doing it without damage taken is insane. Hardest fight in the gane so far, took me about 4 tries.

MP management is key, you wanna use rank 1 elemental magic for example.

I think the guy timed a limit break to skip the final phase where it summons two sweepers. I wasn't able to do that, but copying running from the furniture in the flying phase helped so thanks for posting.

Is there a good write up of what side quests give the SP books in hardmode? I want to go for some alternative dresses if possible and I know some of them are tied to side quest completions.

Note you can't get Aerith's SP book the first time in Chapter 9, that fight isn't open to you with Aerith at that time.

I just finished this, took me 39 hours. I really enjoyed it, great game. Well worth the money in my opinion even though it’s only part of an old game remade, I feel it’s a whole game on its own.

The best part to me were the character themselves, each was interesting.

The combat was better than I expected and fairly enjoyable. Not the best and not the worse.

The story was good and followed the original pretty closely until the end where it took an interesting turn, opening up the possibility that the futur instalment might not follow as closely. The whispers and predestination aspect that were added were a bit too meta for my taste.

I’m not sure I like all the changes, some I feel will have some impact in the future but since they might diverge even more it might not matter much.

Sephiroth was out of place, totally fan service because he’s such a iconic character. For people new to the game, his arc makes almost no sense at all. He's underdeveloped for his role in this game.

All in all I’m happy with the game. I’m looking forward to the next part in the story...in 7 years or so. :)

The problem is, they can't have an "entire game" that has a character that does not know who he is, who he wants to diddle or how old he is...or even the next part... nor can you not somehow have "the big bad"

In OG FF7 cloud was a walking potato for almost or more than half the game, you had to have him relive his mako PTSD to even figure out "no dude you didn't do that"

Anyone want to explain to me why he thinks he is Zack? I have played CC and 7... did their mako tubes get crossed somewhere? I know they were both in the mansion and broke out before they were done.

Also why the F is cloud stronger than sepheroth

How is a half human half jhenovah test tube baby less powerful than, some bro that sat in a jhenovah bath for a bit. At least Zack got infused or whatever by angeal who was made like sepheroth and genesis

It's explained at the end of CC. Cloud has a mental breakdown after everyone he knew died so he took the buster sword and set out on a new adventure as someone he admired "Zack" because he failed to become a SOLDIER.

Cloud was technically a Sephiroth clone because he was infused with Jenovas cells which made him so strong.

Why can i not farm more than one Chain Bangle. Sadness. They had to be planning DLC cause no way would they limit things just for a Part 2 carryover that will be years and a playstation generation away.

Cheapens the NG+ experience when the good shit becomes a potion or a heal materia.

Do I need to do all the sidequests in chapter 14 for any story elements? Would rather just blast on through with the story.

I wouldn't put much thought into it or the entire illusion that they didn't fuck the story up in this remake goes up in smoke pretty quick.

Just finished it, 44 hours and it got completely nonsensical towards the end. I liked the game a lot when it stuck to the original concepts. You can tell the Kingdom Hearts / FF13 teams took this game for a roll in the hay.

I ended up doing all the sidequests...no trophy popped for them though. Trying to figure out if I want to go for 100% or not.

The end of the game was super dumb and not just because it went off the rails with stupid bullshit but because it's like 3 hours of cutscenes interspliced by boss fights. Game was still awesome up until then, though. Was worth the money and I'm glad they made it. Just hope they stick to the good in the next chapter and keep the nuSquare bullshit to a minimum

This is covered somewhere within FF7 I thought, though its been years. Cloud grew up always imagining he'd be the greatest soldier, famous and known everywhere, telling all his family/friends/Tifa that he'd come back with that renown. In reality, he sucked at it and became just generic helmet guard A of Shinra, escorting Zack & Sephiroth to explore why a reactor was on the fritz.

He heard a lot of stories from Zack while they traveled around, and after Sephiroth went crazy/hurt Tifa really badly Cloud went a bit nuts. He reinvented himself in his mind to cope with the failure of his goals enough so that he actually believed it to be true. Tifa went along with it at first cause they needed his help, but later on calls his bullshit and helps him come to terms with it.

Thats what I remember of it, at least.
