Which is why I said it was luck based. The antidote has a 3 minute cd - the poison can get applied multiple times in that cooldown interval, so if you get unlucky you simply can't survive it as a THM.
I've done the quest multiple times and I was only ever poisoned once. The NPC even makes remarks about how you're going to die to the poison if you don't do something about it.

if you stand there and tank it, you wont get poisoned more than once. If you try to kite it around, sleep it, or really do anything to slow the fight down, it causes the mob to poison more often.

I've found the personnal quests and shit to be fairly tightly tuned. Not like super super hard but hard enough that you need to do it just right. One of my CNJ quest had 2 NPCs fighting high health mobs. If you waste your mp nuking, you run out before the event is done and you get raped. You need to spend most of it healing the 2 NPCs so they each kill their mob and are alive when the 2nd set of mobs spawn. Casting Stone at the start to speed one up is fine but you can't wait too long because you fall behind on healing even when you're spamming since there's 2 targets and casting anything but Stone will rape your mp efficiency. It's the only time I died other than in dungeons(wiped when someone pulled a bunch of packs we were trying to skip and once on some boss that spawned caster adds that all targetted me while everyone else had to run away from boss due to mechanics). Only died once though, I almost made it even, 2nd time I just played more efficiently and did it fine.

Thought the weekend would last another day though that sucks, wanted to hit 30 this time so next time I can play another class. I really really don't like lvling as a CNJ. It's basically the most boring class in the game. Barring specific cases where you need to move while casting or you have a small set of mobs to kill in a row(like quest with 5mobs to kill and then you move), Aero isn't worth casting, so it's basically just about spamming Stone, the entire time. There is literally one button to kill everything. It kills a bit slow but not that slow so that's fine, kill speed isn't the issue, it's just so fucking boring. You get a knockback at 15 but it's on a 30secs cd so you only use it about every fight and a half(fightsq tend to be about 20secs). It's really fucking dumb. I'm thinking of playing a tank class instead, Marauder or Glad I'm not yet sure. I don't think Scholar will be able to main heal anything but if we get to see them during P4 maybe I'll do that instead we'll see.

the Thaum quests were mostly boring as hell. For all but 2-3, you had one or multiple NPCs tanking everything who would also heal themselves, each other or you depending on the circumstance.

The CNJ weren't interesting either, but they were tuned hard enough that there's a bunch of whining on the forums about how they're "impossible". Same for THM tbh. There's a lot of bitching about one where you apparently just have to sleep 2 mobs and run past them...

Anyway overall I liked the game. I'm not like super excited, this isn't the next big thing for sure, but I don't know what it is I found it nice. Probably just because it's a FF. Questing is dull/unimaginative, combat is fairly boring on most classes and decent on others(THM and PUG looked like the most fun to me) but I still liked it. I liked the cutscenes, I liked the story, even without the VA, it felt like a real FF, you start as a shitty nobody and quickly climb into fame then get recruited by some sort of secret rebel agency shit, meanwhile the Empire(literally) is preparing a war. That cutscene where you see the empire shit had serious FF6 vibes for me. There is no Kefka just yet but that masked retard could be interesting.

Also there's a lot of shit in the UI/mechanics that are awesome, like the massive amount of inventory space with specialized inventory for gear, the fact you can setup like 20 gear sets for your various classes, transport system(can use cheap transport that takes a bit or just Teleport for more), crafting anywhere if you need some shit repaired/pots/food, not having to loot mobs, limit breaks etc.

thats true, but the quest npc also basically gave them a how to guide on it before you enter. Of course most people skipped the text and thought you should fight the mobs.

Idk what all the bitching is about. I was raping people on my conj. I found their DPS almost too good in phase 2. Stone 2 hits hard.

My pet peeve list is group limit breaks - they should be individual, and the fact there is only one healing class. I spent literally 16 hours dicking around not levelling my main class waiting for healers to catch up to the level to do quests with me.

Oh and trying to chase and melee a moving target was fucking impossible unless I ran in front. Could be a factor of lag, but it was enough to make me sure I won't be rolling a melee class on release.

Well I haven't compared DPS to many other classes but THM outdmg CNJ easily, no question there, so don't know about raping people. The DPS is good though, it's just BORING AS FUCK, I didn't say it was hard or bad, just boring. Pressing one button, regardless of how good the button is, is boring shit.

Are servers down? I hate to admit it, but I think I might actually buy this game! I should probably quit playing if all this is going to get wiped anyway.

Ah that was a short beta phase, but yeah...I recall the email saying as much. Have they announced dates for the open phase yet?

Just to be clear, beta phase 3 isn't over, just the first test of this phase. Don't think they've announced when beta phase 4 will begin yet.

The current rumormill is that we'll have another weekend and then sometime after we'll have continuous play for a couple weeks as phase 3.

Is phase 4 simply the open beta, and will they be doing character wipes after both 3 and 4?

You only have to buy one version to play on both PC and PS3, correct?

I agree with Pyros, overall I like the game even though the questing and combat are boring. I think the game gets a pass because it's a Final Fantasy game.

They improved the game a lot over the crap it was before too. UI is pretty good...my biggest issue with it and it's kinda minor is the hand over quest item bullshit.

The part I really disliked is the mandatory grouping for progression. I know it's an MMO and we're supposed to play with others, but totally stopping progression is kinda dumb, can only imagine what it's gonna be like 6 months after launch on an empty server, or for people playing at weird hours.

I liked it enough that I am gonna buy it, most likely not gonna play the beta again though...until phase 4 if that carries over.

While I agree to a point, I really am not going to complain about 6 months of play time in an mmo that I purchased for $30 bucks and a monthly fee. If I get 6 months out of this I will be happy as shit.

Not looking for "The next big thing". I am looking for "Doesn't suck balls". This game doesn't suck balls.

Man this game is just a headache to play , you need to stomach so much shit to just enjoy it. Gave it another shot on my Thaum , got to lvl 16 and its just such a damn chore to play and iits gearing system is shit. I like having a chance of new gear dropping off mobs , its a nice bonus and so far i have seen none. All the gear is store bought or quested which is just merchant gear given for free besides a few pieces from the class quests replacing one stat with another on the gear.I dunno , guess i cant deal with asian mmo features or lack thereof.
