Have you registered for the email notification deal on square's site? I wasn't in the previous betas with the account I am attaching my pre-order key to, but I signed up for the email deal. I followed the link from here to the beta forums and it let me download the file from the forums (previously couldn't access them from the account) and installed with zero issues, let me log in yesterday and all that. Still haven't actually put in the pre-order key yet.

Okay...I made another account and I can actually log into the client...but now I need a pre order code which I have not been sent. This is honestly the stupidest shit ever. Canceling this preorder (first time ever having to cancel a preorder).

No, you can get into the open beta without a preorder code. The preorder code has to be put in on the 20th for early access.

After playing a good amount today, I can say without any reservation that (for me) this game is better than Guild Wars 2, SWTOR, Rift, etc. Amazing what a nice looking world and little music will do for your overall satisfaction level. I'm really liking the 2.5s GCD as well, when I thought I wouldn't. Its a little slow at the start, and super old-fashioned game design - but its done well and its flat out fun. Need to get leatherworking up to 10 asap - leveling up leather squares one at a time can eat a dick

Errr, no... you do not need a pre-order code to play in the open beta. You need a beta key. Which you can get in about 5 minutes by filling out a form on square enix's website...

I mean, I don't want to make fun of anyone having trouble logging in, I know their system isn't the most obvious... but my girlfriend, who does not play video games AT ALL (crash bandicoot and super mario world are her forte), and has never played an mmo EVER, made her account on her own and is up and playing the game on her playstation 3 today after I sent her the link and she filled out the forms on her own.

A pre-order code wouldn't do anything, because the pre-order code registration is disabled until after august 20th. (And the servers don't come up for another few days anyways)

I've been registering and playing MMO's since UO...so it's not like I'm new to this kind of shit. But this is honestly the most trouble I've ever had registering....logging in....recieving codes...and just getting basic account information EVER.

Just realized you can escape out of cutscenes. My game life instantly improved.

I have no idea what the story line is about and haven't paid one ounce of attention to reading quest logs or watching the cut scenes. I"m a bad gamer.

At almost 34, I just don't care about story in an MMO anymore.

Yea...I did that...and then tried to log in and it proceeded to tell me my user name and password was incorrect, until I made a new account and then it let me in. Working as intended I'm sure.
