You didn't mention but they said the 2 new jobs would be tank and DPS. I think they didn't actually mention what kind of DPS though. Also Yoshida's T shirt is Rhytahtyn(sp?) which is the MSQ mini boss in ARR with 2 shields, so it should be a big shield tank, either actually 2 shields, or big shield+another weap(typical anime RPG ones are usually Lance/Gunlance but could be something else).

Yea they tipped their hand here, the new tank is totally based on him which I am down for, they can make some killer armor graphics for that kind of tank. I wanted the ranged DPS to be a gambler like Setzer but I guess it will be somehting different since they said its a FF14 original.

For DT fan fests Yoshi wore the TMNT shirt, then Viper got announced, then Pictomancer for the last fan fest. So the phys ranged should be detailed in Berlin and the shield tank in Tokyo

I know heading into 7.0 they said they wanted to go away from older FF jobs and come up with more unique to XIV stuff. Agree with Juvarisx Juvarisx , the armor they could do for that could be so sick.

Evangelion raid before Chrono Trigger raid smh

New xpac theme seems cool - definitely some Norse/Nordic influence there. I totally guessed we would be going to a new shard. I bet shit goes bad on the 13th next patch and we get pointed towards the 4th as the next shard to fall unless we fix shit

Yoshi shirt: he had a shirt that said tacos. Taco meme is for the Ultima song. Some people have theorized the real Ultima (where Heart of Sabiek came from) might be the next big bad

Chrono Trigger probably has several layers of copyright/IP bullshit so it wasn't super likely. Evangelion does collabs constantly(like every other gacha has an Evangelion collab) so much easier to get, similar to Nier which also has like 50 collabs. I really liked the Nier raid, the story was so so but the ambience and the fights were really great especially the big robots so I'm looking forward to Evangelion stuff a lot.

Weekly activities seem similar to how Lost Ark changed it's Weekly Unas to missions that accrue. But in that game you had to manually select quests and could forget this just auto tracks same as their new system.

- Ability to earn capped tomes you miss from 1 week prior.
- "Seasons" they are declaring 8.0 + 8.1 is "Season 1" operates the same as it has but giving a name to the gear tiers in an xpac.
- item level sync: Jobs will now have the highest item level you have applied to all jobs (WIP)
- Character Creation will update/add more facial, hair, and color options
- Extra bits of gear can be turned off (all or nothing) like buckles, shoulderpads, belt attachments, etc
- 3rd raid difficulty: In between Normal and Savage
- Player matching will include all worlds in a Region 7.5X will test in japan then bring to other regions
- 2nd mode for job actions (only existing 21 jobs, new jobs will only have one) - designed for fewer inputs so buff/cooldown usage removed with different rotations
- Treasure maps, Fates, Hunts will get updates along with the overall open world changes - details in later fan fests
- Ultimates and PVP updates will continue in 8.X
- Alliance raid will be Evangelion collab - Ghosts of Desire
- PS4 will still be able to run 8.0, may become too much by 8.3 and forced to upgrade to PS5
- Beastmaster 7.56
- 7.55 July 28 and then 7.56 Sep 8
- Switch 2 version coming August 2026 - requires additional Nintendo payment but no membership required

Intermediate raid difficulty level is a good move, IMO, because it felt like the skill floor for story-level fights was getting too high in an attempt to reduce the skill threshold gap between normal and Savage. I particularly hated the 99 Trial in DT.

I'm not immediately hating evolved modes for what they've shown off. But OG control players probably will be seeing the end of the road. Especially if they're going to lag behind the new vision.
2min buffs are gone. Interesting.

Interesting. Somewhat unexpected that war isn't in the main grouping.
Although it apparently only applies to evolved mode. Which is kind of extra hurting my brain.

Its not really main and offtanks in the WoW sense, but a style difference that will let them design different fights in the future. Both sides are capable of main tanking a dungeon or a raid, but they could amke a fight where the boss is a heavy hitter so you may want a Paladin, or a different fight with a lot of area damage across the raid so you want a Warrior. Most likely you will see many fights that want both.

Its not really main and offtanks in the WoW sense, but a style difference that will let them design different fights in the future. Both sides are capable of main tanking a dungeon or a raid, but they could amke a fight where the boss is a heavy hitter so you may want a Paladin, or a different fight with a lot of area damage across the raid so you want a Warrior. Most likely you will see many fights that want both.
Yea i get that. But the implication is that if you only have say a gunblade and a war- one of them should switch to reborn mode to better fill that aspect. Probably not needed in anything but ultimate modes- but there's some weird friction in it not applying to both modes.

I think they are expecting job switching based on encounter with the topline ilvl applying to other jobs

I think it just lines up with Evangelion's 30 year. Nevermind that Yoko is also working on the new Evangelion stuff.. lol

Hmm perhaps. Seems a bit counter to the pseudo casual entreaties. But on the other hand, if you are in reborn mode there would be no reason to switch because the distinction doesn't apply.
I'm conflicted about the ilevel thing. I've never felt the need to have every role/job maxed out so I can understand how not having to do the gearing treadmill 5 times is a perk. But as someone who enjoyed gearing up other jobs at my leisure- having that deleted is kind of jarring.

Casuals wont be in a position to need to do any of it. With them adding the tier between casual and savage, they can keep story mode / RDF the way it is and have it be recommended in the middle tier and required in Savage.

As long as job gear / uncapped tome gear has materia caps close to the highest tier the ilevel sync will be usable. So current example you could use the 690 job gear synced to 780 and that's an easy enough base set for everyone as long you hit level cap.

I think people who raid savage / ulti will play in evolved mode since it will be higher damage. I think that the story / clubbing / degenrate gang will be able to play however they want and not even need to interact with evolved mode outside of the new jobs. I think that Savage mode will encourage / require encounter based job swaps while in medium mode they will be encouraged but not mandatory and RDF will be as easy as ever and people can play what and how they want.

I also think with the 2 minute meta being dead and a tier between easy and hard raiding is going to get way harder and not just be a memorization routine thus rewarding skill.
