I want no part of a real tree. I didn't have any type of tree from ages 18-35 (except made out of beer cans) and when me and the wife first met she was appalled that I didn't have a tree. I'm in my head chanting 'don't want a real one, don't want a real one'.

To further expand on the cat wanting to eat the tree. I have these that my now dead mother hand made when I was a kid. They are made out of Double yolk turkey eggs. She did some quail eggs too but I could not find any fast to take a pic of. I have an ostrich egg in the living room that she decorated as well.
One memory from my youth. My mom would take a Dremel tool and drill holes on each end of an egg and blow water into them to clean. One time she drilled the hole and the egg was rotten and exploded all over her. Made her really happy.

Admittedly it didn't reach us until 1986? but we were all awash in British New Wave in the mid 80's- Joy Division/New Order, Depeche Mode (still my all time favorite band), Erasure, The Smiths, etc. Kate Bush was unusual but "Running up that Hill" was good even then. She was also 80's British sexy so there.
