I have no idea what 'Broil' means . . .definitely not a setting on any oven I've ever seen . . .
Kinda sounds like a portmanteau of Grill and Boil . . which is what I always imagined it was.

Great, many thanks for that!Broil is direct heat from above the dish you are cooking. So it's the element that is at the top of the oven space. It's used a lot for various things. You can finish steaks with a broiler after cooking them in the sous vide. On the picture you provided it would be the "grill" option. That's broil.
