I do like my buddies Truck though - never thought I'd be impressed with a tail gate of all things but there I was, gawking at a remote control tail gate that can go up/down, extend its step etc. I'm getting f'n old I guess.
Yes Im sure Chevy enjoys being able to mark up their trucks even more because of this pointless feature. How is it even useful? If my hands are full to the point I cant easily let it down like normal how is the remote going to help? This shit is like the retards who have to use spybot alexa or whatever to play music or do some incredibly simple tasks that saves them maybe 10 seconds.

Sure guy, I’ll get off your grass. Auto prices are getting out of control and I didn’t say I’d buy that 84k truck. That feature was just neat you grumpy fuck. I’m fine with roll up windows in a car, too. But I’m sure as fuck not going to complain about power windows.

True story - I had a Ford pick-up I owned for 12 years. There is a bracket that holds the window to the powered lift and they fatigue over time. Within a single 18 month period I had all 4 windows drop into the door. All four. Seems to me that would be a part that could be engineered a little more robust? Then again, the conspiracy theorist in me says they do this on purpose.

When I lived in Vegas I had the same thing happen on my BMW. Plastic parts + heat = fail

Good thing BMW would never make engine critical components out of plastic

Though way too much is made out of plastic in almost any new car now.

My 12 year old Hyundai may not make all the chicks' heads turn, but it's rock solid and still going strong.

2012 Kia Sportage here. Regular maintenance has kept everything working properly and no check engine lights. I will have to replace the compressor before the summer though. I’m almost at 150k miles.

I have posted this pic before, but that’s it in the background-

Re planned obsolescence

1643195153331.png

The E36 group of 3 series BMWs, 1995-1998, had water pumps from the factory with plastic impellers. This was from a 316 all the way to true German built engine ///M3 models. Around 60K you had what basically was a plastic grenade that would explode and send plastic pieces through your engine, shred hoses, destroy your radiator, the entire cooling system basically. If this happened with the engine really hot, you could be talking complete engine failure. Front bumper was also an overly complicated mix of plastic support parts and snap together pieces that would start to fall apart around the same time.

2014 Chevy Silverado 1500, 33,873 miles total. Seats have split at the seams, window bracket failed, and just last week had a head gasket go.

Regular oil changes, everything lubed. I'll never buy American again.

For comparison my 86 Nissan Pickup had 289,000 miles when I sold it. The 99 Nissan Frontier I replaced it with had 230,000+ when I replaced it due to a wrong way driver taking me out. Pretty much 13 years of trouble free use out of those Jap trucks vs A dead whale of a truck from the good old USA. Guess it's good that I don't drive much anymore.
