My grandfather used to be freaked out by salt water crocs. He fought in the Pacific Campaign in WW2 and would hear them munching on and tearing apart the corpses of dead soldiers during the night

The same campaign made him also hate snakes, bats, spiders, crabs (those giant coconut crab things used to always crawl into their foxholes. He said he they used to skewer them on their knives and fling them into other soldier's foxholes), mosquitos (he got Malaria), and just bugs in general. Aka the jungle really sucks if you're stuck in it for a long time
