Maybe they are trying to protect the kids from a book with a depiction of a preteen train being pulled on the girl in the group?

Meh. I finally read IT last year, having heard of this awful awful underage gangbang for years across the internet, and it was... ehhh. It's like half a page with no crude descriptions, and it's certainly not played for arousal. I'm not saying it was the best idea to write it as a solution to getting out of the sewers, or even as a symbol for leaving their childhood behind and moving on with their lives after having to face their childhood fears, but if you're going to be shocked by underage sex depictions in books, there's a lot worse in A Song of Ice and Fire with Daenerys getting her muff munched by her teenage slave just so she can sleep a wink, and various young girls getting raped in every book. At least the showrunners were wise enough to age everyone way up in the show...

I'm going to presume it's same principals as airplane travel. Once you're in the air, there's pretty much nothing that you can interact with except weather and air pockets. Collisions between planes are almost non existent. The most dangerous aspects of flight are take off and landing: if you're going to have an accident, chances are its during those procedures. My uncle died in Mexico City when his plane landed on an incorrect runway in 1979. If you're afraid of flying, like me, just focus on the fact that you are very VERY unlikely to have some kind of catastrophic mechanical failure while in the air.

Now let's extrapolate that to space travel. Once you're in space, there's very little to interact with, even less than airplane travel. Space is largely empty...that's why it's called space.
Why everyone thinks space travel is dangerous, when in reality, it's far more vast then you can imagine.
Ironically, the two space shuttle disasters, Challenger and Columbia, occurred during takeoff and reentry/landing respectively.

Even during the Apollo program, the only fatalities were from a test procedure for Apollo 1 caused by mechanical failure that started a fire.

Above is a video of highly distinguished Astronaut Don Pettit. Two questions:
1.) What does he mean we "destroyed the technology" to go back to the Moon?
2.) Do you really think this autistic beta is capable of being an astronaut? Look at the guy, he is half retarted! This guy is so autistic and weak that there is NO way he is capable of doing anything that takes bravery/skill/stamina/mental strength.

Thinner was my favorite thing ever written by King, who I am normally not really a fan of

the story isnt bad, its pretty simple actually. i more or less have issue with how well they depicted the guy in the film. i think they did too good a job on the makeup. i dunno how you ddnt think The Running Man was the best Bachman book. its nothing like the movie cept the concept and the character names. King also somehow managed to predict 2 future events in his Bachman books, the Rage story and the end scene of The Running Man story.

This photo of a moonshine still is thought to have been taken in about 1901. Ben Hadaller, the photo's original contributor, found it among his father Matt's possessions. Ben recalled traveling on more than one occasion with his father to a place in Onalaska called "Moonshine Alley" where many locals went to find their moonshine. How to tell if the moonshine is good? Hold a match about an inch-and-a-half above the jug, and if the flame is blue the moonshine is good.

I’d imagine they are also there to help reduce ragging of storm water pumps.
