Jesus Christ, this is probably one of the best gifs I've ever seen... astonishingly beautiful. I remember seeing pics of the milky way and thinking "that's pretty; that's a bunch of stars in a cluster" but when I learned what the milky way actually was, where we are in relation to it's center, how shittingly massive the entire scope of it was, and when I saw it in person out there in the night sky it blew my fucking mind... it felt like I was looking at all-creation... and that every pic I've seen was in 2-D but I could I finally wrap my head around seeing it in 3-D. It's best described as being on the outer 1/8th of a record and looking into the center of it. Gives you a sense of "where" you are on a cosmic scale.
