Ugh. This is why we can't have nice things.
As someone who has to do things to files, then a month later, do other things to them in a system that doesn't have a sort by timestamp; it was an oddly uphill battle to get my cow-orkers to move to the YYYY-MM-DD naming scheme format even though it made this portion of our jobs all so much easier.
