yeah and this was back in the day when you could not just pull up a walkthrough video. I remember there being a puzzle where you had to play back sounds on an instrument and my audio card wasn't good enough to tell the difference. I got so mad I took the disc out and broke it & uninstalled the game.

I remember being stuck on some part of EcoQuest: The Search for Cetus as an idiot kid and having to mail them a letter to get a hint on what to do next for the puzzle I was on.

I got super stuck in Police Quest 3, like "start the game from scratch multiple times" stuck. Finally got the little walkthrough guide after God knows how long and went though it again from the beginning crazy carefully. Still stuck. Pretty sure my copy of the game was broken. I'm not sure even EQ was able to rustle me that much.
