I was working on an AMC theater addition (the one at the end of South Blvd & 485 in Charlotte if its still there) around '96-97 and the goddamn fire alarm contractor forgot to put the smoke heads in the duct detectors. They were our sub so we had to do all their heavy work (don't ask wasn't my idea that's for damn sure). The mechanical units were in the theater itself in the ceiling above the stadium seating. We were going for final inspections so this was kind of a big deal.
This meant we had to come in at 4am and take out the seats, build up lumber on the low side of the seats, set up an A frame ladder (too far away for a cherry picker lift and no way to get one in there) for the asshat goddamn motherfucking son of a whore fire alarm guy to crawl up, pop a ceiling tile and put in a smoke head, literally insert and turn a quarter. This made me very cross if you cannot tell.

Well morning of , I said fuck this bullshit, there was a guy at work that was bigger / stronger than me and I was no slouch. I asked him if he thought he could prop the bottom guard of an A frame on his legs and hold it across his thighs for 15 min or so for the guy to put it in. We agreed that was way easier than all that work and worst case, we kill the worthless goddamn motherfucking fire alarm guy. Photo of the ladder in question, except they were bigger. These were wood, not fiberglass and took 2 full grown men and 4 boys to move. Even posting this pic sickens me.

tl;dr fire alarm contractors are fucking scum bags and we red necked a ladder in the movie theater.

Bonus fact: Projectors used a Xenon bulb that had to be burned in before they could be used to show movies. They did this by playing a movie print over and over and over for the hours needed. The movie in question : Showgirls. It was nothing to be working along and look up to see nekkid boobiez.
