The disk drive was expensive as shit, we didn't have a lot of cash growing up. I appreciated that we had this thing to play games. It taught patience!
Also, Paul Norman was amazing. Started off as a music composer, then learned to code advanced games like Forbidden Forest. Did *everything* solo, a C64 pioneer.

We had one of those when we first got our C64 in 83 because the 1541 drive was out of stock everywhere for awhile. 1541 was around $400 at the time and I remember my dad grumbling about it being almost the same price as the computer.oh man. Tape drive. Anyone else have one of these?

I used a literal regular long "shoebox" cassette recorder for the tape drive with my TI-99 4/A; when I moved up to the Apple IIe I got 5.25 floppy drives, first one and then another like Vuuxo.
